I have this shift knob that has chrome on the lower part & I guess it's painted on the upper part, but some of the chrome started flaking off. I want to get rid of all the flaking chrome, but leave the painted half alone. First, I tried using a razor blade & that was going ok for a while, but I guess I got all the defective part off & now the chrome that's left seems stuck on real good. I tried using some scotchbrite, that's not working.

    Any suggestions?

You'll need to bring it to a place that does chrome plating and have them remove it. I don't know of any over the counter products that will remove chrome.

Or just buy a new one.
