Really? Let's take a look:

So just once he arrived ahead of his teammate at Barcelona. A team mate who at that time was trying to find his feet with a new team, a new car and a different tire manufacturer. Not much of a track record (pun intended).

We'll see about that.

 

I'm not concerned with how he did there in a Sauber. I'm thinking of his dominant win there last year, and banking that he'll do it again. He did it in Bahrain, so two fingers for the old boy to do it again.

 

The "dominant win" almost ended in the gravel after turn 1 with Alonso attached to the Ferrari...

 

You really have a way with words but the actual facts are that Massa IS with Ferrari and Alonso is NOT. You are the one that has too watch every race with sort of a schizophrenia feeling not me. Massa will more than likely win 4 races and yes I will enjoy that scotch. I doubt very much that Maxorido will donate the 10gs.

Actually I watch Massa with a mixture of amusement and frustration.

Fortunately we have Kimi so I know that at least one car will be consistently performing well

I agree with the Button statement in a Ferrari. He would out perform Massa on just about any given day. But, Massa does not need to win for my C note. He only needs to score points as Alonso is still stuck with the enemic Renault.

 

The hard pass in Barcelona was ok. No criticism here. All I'm saying is that it could have easily gone the other way and ended in the kitty litter after one turn. My point is, that I'm not sure Massa at Barcelona is such a shoe in for a victory. He could do it, but there are now about 5 other people who have an equally realistic chance at pulling that off.

anyways, Massa said last year, after his terrible start at the Malaysian GP, that he's not gonna give way in the future, and then came the Barca race and Alonso tried on Massa, and Massa stood his ground.

 

Massa isn't on top in Practice. He sucks.

To be truthful i like Massa alot. I very often route for him over Kimi. It was a bad day for the guy today i reckon.

 

It could have been the car set up? He is my favorite driver too although after Kimi got drunk humped the inflatable dolphin I was more keen on him. Not sure you all heard about this:

BTW Massa is still tied for lead. I think he has a fair shot at winning. Once again what I like about him is that he has passion and emotion. I cannot support Hamilton as he was raised and races for the same team that is "OUR" adversary. However I like Kubica and wish him the best asd he seems cool nd to me cool is as important as anything in this world of fake political correctness and BS.

 

Before you jump on Massa, please tell me you knew exactly the chassis setup for today for his and Raikkonen´s car. Please tell everyone about the choice of tires he received that you know about.

I would say he truly made some errors today, but most of them were at the same corners at which other drivers lost their control. Some of those drivers in landed in the gravel. Massa kept going.

Even Raikkonen lost it at least a couple of times. At least. Kovalainen at least twice I remember, Webber, Coultard, etc.

Nevertheless, he remains in a three way tie for first place in the WDC. If he were back in 4th or 5th in the WDC and performed as today, I could appreciate the negative comments.

But he is still in first place. If he has more bad days, and drops substantially in points, I have no probelm agreeing with the negative comments.

 

he did hit the wall hard friday. it is in the realm of possibilites that the chassis may have been the problem. that may be the reason for the poor qualy result and his inability to keep the back end in line.

 

I just hope he keeps winning..

Of all the folks on here it seems that only a few of us have knowledge of the start of the weekend events. Isn't it great, all the folks here who profess to be F1 Ferrari fans and armchair "drivers" apparently were clueless as to what happened on Friday. I put a post on the race today about problems starting with Alonso blowing an engine and spilling oil onto the track and unfortunately Massa was behind him and apparently no warning was given to Felipe by either HIS TEAM RADIO or oil on track flags. Even the guys from Speed commented about the chassis rule that F1 has; Ferrari went ahead and fixed the car...based on the photos shown, it was a huge mess on the back end where it smacked the wall heavily. Perhaps Ferrari would have been better off making the change.

To automatically assume that someone sucks in this sham of a race weekend for Ferrari without knowing all the circumstances and facts leading up to the race is pitiful. Even Ferrari issued statement saying they screwed the pooch this weekend.

The schadenfreude celebrations are not commentary on Massa's performance, but occasioned by it.
Everything clicked for MCL in UK, as it did in Monte Carlo, and F dropped the ball. Too bad for Kubica/BMW also.

 

Great post Carol, we have no idea what kind of shape the car was in considering it was rebuilt from the accident during practice, and the press release is just a day old with the team apologizing for screwing up Massa's weekend for him, but I guess that's of no consequence.

IMO the biggest disappointment wasn't the horrible race he went through but the timing and the fact that Lewis was able to capitalize on it and get right back in the thick of the fight, at least Kimi was able to salvage the offroading he did today with a good finish. Hopefully the cars and the team will be much better prepared for Germany.

 

I don't consider myself a Massa basher. Being that he drives for ferrari I hope he does well. I am realistic tho and I feel that Massa is not on the same level as drivers like Kimi, FA, Lewis and others. IMO, the only way he has a shot at being a WDC is if Kimi, Lewis, RK and others all have consistent, freakish bad luck and Massa is in the right place at the right time...and "driving the right car". Just look at how he obtained being in a 3 way tie for the lead this season. That's why I've never felt that Massa was a real threat for the WDC. It's cool that he's actually up in front for a little while because that means he's scoring some needed points for Ferrari but IMO due to the skill level of the drivers around him, he won't be up there for long. Luck can only get you so far, if you know what I mean. Yes, Massa had a terrible race today and yes, it's very likely that the car was far from perfect and also there were adverse weather conditions as well as adverse team conditions. However, how many times have we seen other drivers take far from perfect cars or adverse weather conditions and/or team decisions and do something great. You don't have to look any further than Massa's teammate for that. Just look at what Kimi did all those years while he was driving that highly unreliable and unpredictable Mac. Look at what he overcame in 07 in his first year at a new team. Look at what Kimi has had to overcome just even in these last two races. Look at what FA is having to deal with driving that Renault. Look at what Kubica is doing in the Bimmer. The list can go on...

Basically IMO, if either Kimi, Lewis, FA or a few other drivers were having to drive the exact same car and facing the exact same adverse conditions that Massa had to face today we would have seen a much, much better and maybe even a great result. I highly doubt that we would have seen either of them struggling to keep the car on the track and having the announcers stating that he just needs to cut his losses, bring the car in and call it a day. This is just one of many frustrations I have about Massa.

Sorry for the long post...just some of my thoughts.
