Hello again - while I have a 328, this applies to all such vintage sports
cars. I'm new to them, having never had such a machine - only Detroit
and Japan cars over the years.

I notice as I drive more around HOW MUCH ABUSE our 'modern' suspensions
hide from us!! It's insane - I find myself judiciously watching the road
surface for potholes, dips, changes in level, rocks, and of course speed
bumps that I just don't seem to notice in my Mercedes E500. I feel
    EVERYTHING in the 328.

It just amazes me how much ABUSE our 'modern' cars take that we never
    even feel!

I believe that if more people drove cars with REAL sport suspension, the condition
of our local roads would improve overnight - lest there be a revolt!

    Just a fun observation...

Good and bad. The ability to feel the road is part of what makes sports cars fun. The driver can connect to the road through the car. MB engineers everything to the inth degree, isolating all road vibrations. The car is so perfect, it's boring to drive.

Exactly my point! I drove last summer at 137 MPH in the E500 and it felt like I was
doing 70 MPH. The 328 is so VISCERAL!!

Boy do I know what you mean, I am constantly looking for dips, depressions, bumps, potholes, debris, it makes driving almost not as enjoyable

It is simply one of those things that you have to experience first hand to truly understand.

Until you drive a car with dampers set with response in mind rather than comfort, and a car with bushings designed to simply "reduce" vibration rather than eliminate it, you don't really know what you are missing. Modern cars make sure that the driver is totally disconnected with the road, but real sports cars try and make the driver as connected as possible.

I totally agree that if everyone had to drive cars like this, the would realize simply how poorly made our roads are.
