I used Nino's Foreign Car in Avon, CT when I bought my '85 308. He charged me a couple of hundred bucks and went through the car from top to bottom. I would use him again. The Chevy dealer that has the 355 is only about a 15 minute ride from Nino's so they should be willing to drive it over for the PPI. Good luck! The pictures they posted of the car are of bad quality and I could not tell if the exterior is in good shape or not. Although all that will be checked when the PPI will be performed, I was wondering if you have seen it parked outside, and if it looks decent enough to pursue it. Thanks
I have not seen the car in person. I am tied up tomorrow, but could probably get over there on Wednesday to take a look at it and give you my opinion. I'll bring a camera to see if I can snap a few pics for you.
Thanks Joe. I appreciate it. Let me know if you were able to check it out. The sales person is supposed to call me tomorrow to provide service info on the car. You know they will exagerate when talking about the car, especially when it comes to cosmetics (interior and exterior). I want to make sure the condition is consistant with the car's low mileage.
I don't know Nino's, therefore no opinion. Ferrari Mechanics are a premium here in CT. The local dealers are Miller Motors, Greenwich (about 1.5 hours from Hartford) and FoNE in Foxboro Mass (closer to 2 hours). Both will be pricey. Other possibles include a place near Boston who's name escapes me right now (another 1.5 to 2 hours). Also, Frank Maderi is a independant that summers in Western CT near New Milford. I could hook you up with him if your interested. If you find any other qualified guys, I'd sure like to know there names. A good tech is hard to find. Lane
It will be real hard to have to take it that far for a PPI. I hope Nino's has experience with Ferraris and can perform a decent PPI especially on a 355. I will talk to the dealership tomorrow regarding the car's service history and will take it from there.
Give John Tirrell a call @ Independent Ferrari Service in Easton, MA.(508-238-4224) He can scoot over and do a PPI in no time. He has done two for me. He even has his 355 Challenge for sale if you want to move up the ladder.
Thanks Sam. I am looking for a 355TB though. They said today that someone put a deposit on it and is supposed to collect it today. They will let me know if the deal falls through.
When I got back in from my day trip to IL, I did a drive by the dealership. I did not see the car out on the lot when I went by. Not sure if it was in being serviced / cleaned or the car was sold.
Forza Motorsports recommended Nino's for my PPI so I was willing to give him a try and I was happy with him. Forza also has another Ferrari tech they work with that is in the Avon area.
