Cannon Beach PDX Driving Group?

Cool Steve looking forward to it.

I spoke with Steve Wintermantel at RTGT and think now that the main group may leave around 12:00. Every year we would leave around 10:00 and get thhere around 2:00 and most of our rooms were not ready. So if we leave around 12:00 stop have lunch everyones room will be ready and we will all have enough downtime before the event on Friday.

Sound good to everyone?

Steve at RTGT will have the final call on time and meeting place. F club members will get an email on time and place to meet

My plan was to drive out Saturday morning as part of the Portland F-car caravan. Did Steve W. send out an email with the details yet to any of you? Last I heard from him was April 22 and he said an email would be out shortly...Maybe my mail isn't getting to me.

 

So are non-members not invited? What if an f-car just shows up?
By the lack of details offered here in this thread, I'm getting this "members vs. everybody-else" vibe. Implied or not, that's the message I'm getting.

My wife has been bugging me about wondering down that way one of those days but I really don't think I want to now.

 

I don't think there's any exclusivity or snobbery involved; everyone can join. I think they just want people to be members so that the necessarily incurred expenses can be equitably shared by those getting the benefits. It takes time and money to put all this together. I think it's a bargain. I'd feel uncomfortable piggy-backing on everyone else who had ponied up.

 

Guess I'm not understanding what this event really is. I imagined it as being a bunch of f-cars driving down, then setting up a little line up of them so the public could drool at them (ala a concours if you will).
Then some formal get together among the members in some closed door thing... which is understandable and fine, but I didn't understand keeping the non-members away. I assume the public will be looking at the cars (assuming they are outside?). I don't think ppl are going to say "hey, unless you are a member, turn away".

 

The dues are less than a tank of gas (at least for a 456M which can hold 29 gallons of premium--aaugh!)

They just don't want the info posted on here so a bunch of ricers in Porsche's and BMW's roll up at the meeting spot. Maybe if I send Steve the pictures of my trip to Maranello that I promised him at the Autoshow he would send the classified information my way... hehe.

 

You can have any type of car but you must be a Ferrari Club or Lamborghini Club member to join in the drives, events, car show, dinners etc.

 

I'm still not sure if I'm going to CB this year. If anything might just go down for the day on Saturday. Anyone know what time the car show starts?

 

Might pay up the dues then, plan to be an owner in 6 years anyway

Car show every year is about an hour before dinner time in Cannon Beach. 4:30 ish maybe the cars start to roll in but I never read any of the emails
