This is a design fault of the DE .50 My buddy, big guy who shoots with both hands on the gun, got a circular ring in blood between his eyes after a spent casing flew straight back. These things are a law suit waiting to happen when someone's eye gets put out. I loved the high capacity 9s when there were only the Browning highpower and MAB on the market. Then the wave came. I'm back to the 1911 .45 The Porsche 911 of the gun world. That said I've always wanted a HK P7-M13 and this thread has got the wheels turning.
I'm sure that you'll be very happy with the Xtrema II. Are you going to get the Kick-off option? I've always wanted to try duck hunting. Perhaps now I can get more serious about it, since I've got the right tool for the job!
I'm not sure I'll get the KO option. IMO, its not worth the extra coin. I've been shooting 3.5" loads for years with no problems. The Xtrema I shot didn't have it and kick is minimal anyway. J
Good advice with additions. Weight of the weapon should rest (her case) in a cradle of the left hand under the magazine. Slight relaxation of the right elbow prevents wiggle when the trigger is pulled. Slight relaxation of the knees downward (modified crouch) helps to steady the weapon. This way most of the movement comes after the weapon is fired. Rigidity thwarts accuracy.
I got to put 10 rounds through a Barrett .50BMG today at the borrow pit where we shoot! WOW! Nothing quite like sending 661gr of love downrange!! Dave
The PTRs are very nice. I would get one, but already have a "real deal" one. No need for two. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Any recommendations on where to get a cheap, fireproof gun safe with enough capacity for a few rifles and handguns?
Anybody have experience with the FN 5.7 pistol? A local dealer has once for a great price and I have been eyeballing a PS90 for a while so I'm thinking they might make a nice little combo package. That's a nice looking rifle you got there..... wish I had bought the real deal back when they were priced more reasonably. Guess the same thing would go for vintage Ferraris too
Interesting. I would have been more impressed if they also tried opening one of their 'better' safes. And his 'timeline' is pretty stupid. If I wanted to steal something in 2.5 minutes, I would just smash and grab instead of exerting all that energy. I've always felt that safes & locks only keep honest people honest. Gun shows usually have dealers with good prices. I have a Canon Patriot P22 safe that I brought 2-3 years ago. Cost ~$900 delivered and bolted to the floor. Weights 500+ pounds, and fireproof. Not as pretty as the powdercoated models, but I have it hidden anyways. My first safe was a smaller Amsec model that I brought years ago without fireproofing. I'm sure it could be opened like the video, the door is much thinner steel than the Canon and the whole thing weights less than 200 lbs. I would look for as large a safe as you can afford (and fit where you want). I didn't expect to outgrow my Amsec, and I also found the safe is useful in storing important documents and other valuables. While I still have plenty of space in my Canon, I wish I brought the larger model just in case.
Would like to purchase this one, if they ever made one for production. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D99NHb6B03s

The introduction of the PTR has caused the prices to drop some. Demand for real ones is lower. I don't consider the PTR a replica, but something like Shelby Cobras made from original tooling. Same quality; just name recognition, so more cost. Just need to get some years under their belt to see if they hold up well. Not a Fiero kit car by any means. I also have a Mark 23 and Compact Tactical. Barrel threading is opposite, so suppressors don't fit both. HKs get lonely, and once you buy one, you will buy more.
My "kids" HK USP 40 Tactical and a Kimber Ultra Carry SS. Picking up an HK PSP as well as a USP Compact Tactical 45 shortly though. I like the Kimber as far as shooting goes, but I HATE filed stripping it. I can take down an HK in about thirty seconds, takes about three minutes with the Kimber and involves getting my thumbs bloody. Plus the HK's will fire no matter what and I simply trust them more.
