Countach project for sale on eBay

Why do they call these things "projects?"

Why not just call them "car that was ignored and destroyed"

I can't even imagine buying this new and letting this happen.

Yes that is chad's car

I am working a deal with him but he put it on ebay so well see what happens with the ebay boys.

Its a pretty easy fix but it will take some work, and I would also repaint it black.

what do you think "happend" to this countach

Why dont you email the seller and ask him what happend to the car, then you would know what happend to it instead of assume what happend.

This countach is not destroyed far from it destroyed it is a pretty straight fwd fix but of course there is alot more bells and whistles on a FI car that will need attention.

 

I need to see a LOT more pictures AND see the engine/transmission (you know, the important part) before I could have any opinion.

I think that anyone who is serious about buying a project countach would either go and inspect it in person, or have enough money that whatever it needs would be inconsequential.

 

Shhhh . . . the more people badmouth the car, the less chance an impulsive lurker on this forum will want it and bid it up!

On the other hand, with rare and/or high profile cars, some people who want to bid on/buy a car will pretend they are not interested in it and trash talk it until it comes time for the sale . . . then *surprise!* they're bidders! lol

 

If you want to buy this with only 4 pictures of nothing shown be my guest.

Absolutely it should be seen in person (by someone who has a clue what to look at) but without more information it's not worth the trip.

Well I will not assume anything but I know what your saying, I believe this would be a good car but Im not comming home for many months and I too would go and look it over before buying.

Its hard to convince someone to hold a car for you for months while your in a war!!

I was in at 50 G's...that's it though. Didn't much like the color either.

 

The original color was black with red interior a combo I love! if I get this car the yellow is gone

 

Because I've seen so many Countaches with 13,000 miles that need a rebuilt engine, I already know what is involved. An "engine rebuild, new clutch, new brakes" etc on a countach is not a "pretty straight fwd fix."

Exactly how many Lambo engines have you rebuilt? How many have you pulled out of a Countach? It ain't easy and it ain't cheap!

And if the motor's out of the car I'd be shocked if all the parts are there anyway.

Whatever, have fun with it if you buy it, but if you buy it and take it to a shop, remember....$$$$$$ (and it'll probably be done wrong anyway...very few mechanics know how to work on these cars -- probably less than 10% of the ones that will even take on the work!)

PS: It does look like a fun project if you really want to do it yourself....and already have a lot of experience rebuilding engines

 

Buying a "basket case" like this has huge risk and the $50K bid was well above what it should cost. As a "do-it-yourself" project it would be really easy to get in over your head (even for an experienced "car guy"). There is no "Haynes" manual for the car If you took it to a shop and discover that there are important things missing or broken/worn-out, you could end up unable to shovel the money fast enough to get it done.

So much for negativity, the car can be fixed (this is what I do) but it is important that you do your homework, think realistically and be ready for surprises (there are ALWAYS surprises) Expect it will cost at least double what you estimate.

Owner told me he sold it to someone over seas for $70K


Ill have my countach someday and while I will have questions about this or that I am more than capable of doing the work I would never even think of purchasing a project just to send the car to a shop if I was that lazy I wouldn’t ever look for a project Id buy a completed car.

But one thing that I liked about this car is that it was originally black with red interior and that is what I would have repainted it rebuilding the motor wouldn’t be that difficult but I did look into the bearings and some are available some are not but I only had the internet to search with I didn’t call a dealer.

Expensive perhaps, Fun hell yeah!

Ill get one perhaps not a real project car but I can always look.

 

Well I have rebuilt zero lambo motors but I also used to be a machinist, I have rebuilt countless engines and have rebuilt many over head valve motors, they just didnt have 12 pistons in them. Same concept just need the info for the way lambo wanted it built, everyone that works on them now at one time didnt have a clue what they were doing. But that didnt stop them.

Id really like to know where you have seen some of these 13K countach's in need of a engine rebuild, I really want a project countach so ill keep looking but not all of them are advertised so If you know of any please hook a brother up.

OMG you have no idea, There are plenty on engines with low milage that need major work. This is not exclusive to Lamborghini's read Michael Sheenans story's. You also have to ask what is wrong when a guy tries to sell an exotic car and post some of the worst pictures on ebay.....................

Yes the only diffrence between a lamborghini engine is the number of pistons........................arrrrrrg
