Miami 305 687 0028 Glasurit 101f Or another perfect substitute/match is Suburu Quicksilver 262 part # SU 01345
Thanks, I'll check these out. Ok, let's assume the wheels are powder coated from the factory..... is there anything wrong with touching them up with paint?
but in case you want to touch up a scratch -- before recoating where can once order online anywere a touch up for the wheel? is there an wheel exchange service out there for 355 ferrari?
Whar colour code are the brilliant silver rims? The ones found in the new generation AMG/stradale ones.
All... FWIW, I went to PEP Boys and picked a tube/can of the Subaru touch color and it matches very nicely. I'll build up the void of missing paint and then sand it smooth. It's not perfect, but then again, I can't afford perfect
Why did you not go for the Miami 305 687 0028 or Glasurit 101F first? Dont make do, have it perfect. Though i wonder if its worth rubbing the whole wheel down with a cutting compound to take of the top layer so the fresh paint blends in.
Er yes i did, and if you were arsed to read what i just wrote i also suggested it may be worth rubbing down the wheel with a cutting compound. Just as one does when blowing in a section the coach work on a car. Just so you know about applying paint. You can apply paint in different temperatures and get different tones/colour results. And remember his question was were to find wheel paint and the codes, so i assumed he was spraying the paint on. He never mentioned about a touch up colour tube that every one knows can be hard to match even on coachwork. Touch up sticks does not go on the same as paint sprayed from a gun. So let the guy do the repair properly and then report back ey. Saying that if two people were given two identical tins of paint to paint two separate cars. And one of the two was a professional painter. Both cars would come out two completely different colours. This is due to the pressure at the nozzle, ambient temperature thinner ratio mix ect. So just because one may have a perfect tin of paint does not mean that it will be applied perfect if you are not a pro. Worth a mention is it has been reported that even straight from the Factory, there has been slightly different paint matches on the same car. Due to the paint being recharged mid way through the spraying process.
Ok, my idea of touch up is to take the wheel off of the car, lay it flat on the ground and touch it up.... When I get to a point in time where I can pull the tire off the wheel and do the appropriate prep work then I'll paint it with better paint and get it even closer. It's all a matter of what you want to invest in the repair.
I had to touch up one of my wheels last week so I set out to find the perfect touch up color. I found it at Canadain tire store here in Canada where they have hundreds of colors to choose from. I also take the wheel off so there are no runs. The color I found is made by Dupli-color(scratch fix 2 in1) and is a GM color the # is NG GM 508. The name is ultra silver and was used by GM in 95 96. The GM code is 95 8867. It is made in the USA so you should be able to find it. Update: you can order from their website https://www.duplicolor.com/duplicolor/step1.php
You are not making sense. If he wanted it perfect he would not even repaint, he would buy a new wheel.
First i dont make sense to you because you clearly would not know were to start painting yourself, so its over your head. A painter will understand what i am trying to say. But anyway have you heard your self LOL!! Do research and you will see there are many who have resprayed there wheels with the paint codes i have given and even coated them. And have had perfect results myself included who have painted a few sets in my time. But according to you, one has to buy a new wheel to have a perfect wheel. Clown. Do you think that a dealer replaces a wheel with a new one if there is a scratch on a wheel? LOL!!! The guy asked for the paint codes and i gave him the 3 that are used when refuribng 355 wheels, simple. What did you bring to the party to help the guy? In fact who else helped the guy out? What did i do so bloody wrong?
Man you guys are getting picky. No wonder you don't have a Brotherhood. There is no perfect match unless you paint the entire wheel and even then, no paint compound is going to be perfect - close, sometimes nearly indistinguishable from original, but never perfect. The OP was talking about touching up, so you already know there is no intention of having it absolutely hidden. It's much easier to just have the entire wheel set repainted, as I did when I bought my set. I let the painter choose the color and I can't tell the difference between stock and mine. It cost me $75 per wheel and I didn't have to dismount the tires. Of course, I probably don't have your discerning eyes, but I can live with it. Andrew, you are going to get close and few will notice the patch, but you already know it's just a touch up, however accurate you find the color match.
101c we can find the mix forumula for.. its Argento (standard)... but the Argento 101c code also lists a (lighter) and (darker) option in that color. Not sure what the "f" suffix you quote represents, it doesn't come up as an option color on the Glasurit color datebase. Could you clarify for us pls? Jan
