Huh??? That has got to be the MOST rediculous statement in this entire thread. So cops who also work murders, suicides, assaults, etc are idiots because they enforce traffic laws you don't like and that they didn't write?
#1: tracked me for 5-6 miles, pulled off/on, then rolled up beside me and yelled over "you don't have to go that slow" #2: at an evening road block "want to swap cars?", hmmm - bet that cruiser gets through traffic faster and has more parking options #3: numerous speed traps at just enough speed to warrant a ticket if they wanted to On the down side - :followed for 20 miles by four different cruisers through Banff National Park while cars flew past us ne no-plate ticket in 3 yrs All in all, I do think as a grey-haired older guy in a "classic" Ferrari - I do get away with a bit more than I would in a more normal car. but not by much, and it balances itself out. Up here I see a lot more kids pulled over - including one this morning with his hands over his eyes, shoulders slumped, in discussion with the officer. Guess his choices had consequences after all.
You know that's not what he was referring to. He was talking about the mindless, selective enforcement of idiotic laws that are supposed to ensure safety but don't do anything except serve as revenue generators. Those who engage in such practices are idiots. Working homicide is different. So is helping a legally blind person cross the street. Except when I did that I got told to "Get the f__k out of here"... another of NJ's finest.
Yes. Saving twenty lives on sunday doesn't save you from being a murderer on monday when you kill little johnny. Working on murders part-time doesn't stop you from being an idiot when you enforce 25mph speed limits when the engineering report says 85th percentile is 49mph. Besides mate. I never said a damn thing about homicide detectives. I spoke singularly about traffic cops.
Hey Mate...with the exception of a couple states (where troopers are stictly highway partol), all cops work all types of work. I never said detective either. The first law enforcement on the scene of a murder is a uniformed cop, not a detective. So at 9am he's writing a ticket and at 9:30 he is responding to a death scene. Why is a cop an idiot for enforcing a law written by politicians? What the hell does engineering have to do with a guy doing his job. Guess what, why don't you change the law and then the cops will enforce your version. It's absolutely rediculous to stay a cop is an idiot because he does his job... I could care less what engineers say unless I'm on a race track. Who gives a s*&t if speed laws are revenue generating. It's the law...deal with it. That doesn't make a guy an idiot for doing his job. Guess what...a cop can be enforcing a speed law and come across a drug dealer, a murder, or get killed himself doing his job...That's all it it...HIS JOB. So, since the laws are stupid, cops shouldn't do their job. Perhaps we shouldn't obey stupid laws either...are we idiots for obeying stupid laws
+1 The thing that cops don't see, is the insurance surcharges tacked on the stupid ticket. If they had to pay the same fines and insurance surcharges we do, I'm sure it would be a different story. While the cops do a good job, for the average citizen, they are collectors of an unfair and unjust tax on motorists. http://www.copswritingcops.com/home.php?subaction=showfull&id=1207423058&archive=&start_from=&ucat=& <snip> Simply put, you don't abuse any Brother Officer, particularly those who are on duty and in uniform. As to on duty performance, I shall be blunt: YOU DON'T SUMMONS ANOTHER COP! <snip> home page http://www.copswritingcops.com/home.php
First of all: WOO HOO!!!!! 1000 posts. A couple years ago when I was still in FL, the sitting Palm Beach County Sheriff wrote his own Deputy for running a red light in a marked patrol car. I guess he was the only good cop out there.
Ok...singularly, traffic cops are idiots because they enforce laws ... which just happens to be their job. I still don't understand that logic as they didn't write the laws. Some people think the narcotics laws are idiotic because some doctors say they are "good" for you...or some other "expert" says crime would go down if we legalize drugs. So I guess every cop and federal agent that works narcotics cases are idiots too. I hope you NEVER get into a wreck. But if you did, what would you say to the TRAFFIC cop that shows up..."go away, you are an idiot"? You are either very narrow minded or naive to think that a traffic cop only writes tickets. If you get slammed by another driver, you will be chomping at the bit to get the police report, maybe written by a TRAFFIC cop, that shows the other guy was at fault so you can sue the tar out of him. Maybe you meant Traffic cops are only idiots when they are writing tickets for laws you don't agree with. But when they are saving peoples' lives, writing reports to help your case, investigating the cause of an accident, going after drunk drivers, drug dealers, etc...then they are ok.
Elect different politicians and have the laws changed---calling me an idiot(Traffic Operations Officer) because I DO my job.... suck a %$#@!!!! I have been in Traffic for almost 10 years and maybe write 20 tickets a month if that...Reconstructing fatal crashes takes most of my time.... Once again another moron lumping everyone in together....
Hey will you look at that, another moron who can't figure out context. I've not lumped anyone together. You have. Those Engineering Reports tend to be the end all, be all, final say on most speed laws in California mate. In California the prime law is the basic speed law which is in essence 'if its safe, its safe.' Every single ticket I've been given I've beaten on those grounds. Every single damn one. The Cop in those tickets clearly was not doing his job because he was not enforcing the law because he was issuing tickets for safe driving. So frankly take a hike mate. You may never have issued an idiotic ticket in your life. If you have well then when you did, you were an idiot. Plain and simple. Hey look at that. You've got a brain after all. Yes, it does. I was a scumbag who sold people expensive programs that I knew didn't work for 90% of people. That I was a great friendly guy who was the first person to volunteer a bed for a friend when they're down and out didn't stop me from being a scum-bag because I knowingly ripped people off to make a living. Hell I'll probably always be one as a result of having worked that job to be perfectly honest. 'Its my job' is not a defense. Ever. And besides, so far every cop in this thread has essentially confirmed you have total discretion about enforcing traffic laws and writing tickets. So the 'its my job' defense can go take a hike as far as I'm concerned.
Finally, after swimming through all the sewage you have been pouring onto FChat, I agree with you. This post was PERFECT. You have finally shown that you are not all there MATE. Good one.
Man, this is a strange thread.......I'll try to spin it a different way, in salute to the absolute pride I have in our Police Department here in Houston...yea, they make the headlines sometimes but all in all do a fine job.. Blog #1: Inspection Sticker line - I'm waiting my turn in a carbed Ferrari and ahead of me is a uniformed officer in a Chevrolet compact car, these guys don't make a ton of money and most likely his driver isn't a top family priority........well, during inspection he comes to need some part, so I say "C'mon man, there's a Parts place right down the street"...so he's a pretty big guy, he wedges himself into my car, bullet belt, gun and cuffs and all! LOL! He left a few scuffs but no big deal,. ..really.....we go off zooming down the street and he looks over and says: "My first time to ever be in a car, like this......." I was proud to do it ....real proud.. Blog #2 Art Car Day: Motorcycle officers from HPD, also Harris County, even adjacent counties are assigned to convoy us to schools and control traffic, we get to run thru red lights, stop signs everything as these guys risk their life and limb to leapfrog each other and race ahead to the next controlled intersection ...it's not only beautiful to watch , but DEAFENING as the Harleys go past my Ferrari right at ear level! Waaaay way cool....I always thank them at the end of the day, and offer them the keys for a spin...... Blog #3 Running of the Bulls Lamborghini meet 2004: A county sheriff comes into the Bluebonnet Farms property to caution us the NSX club has been real crazy coming out I10 to see us and local complaints have been raised, so be cool.....we thank him and I give him Goodyear Blimp antenna balls for his cruiser as he is on Goodyear Eagles!! He laughs and asks for one more, for his Corvette, at home..........so this proves how many of them are actually car guys JUST LIKE US! Leaving the Ranch radar traps were set up at every highway, many of us that ignored the warning, paid the price.. Blog #4 Transportation Day....My Ferrari is on display alongside the Fire Truck from HFD and the helicopter patrol of HPD, lots of jokes exchanged and trying on of each other's equipment, they all promise to work as fast as they can if the ever come upon an incident and see that it's me! LOL! In return, the following month I leap out of my Ferrari and into a wrecked Lincoln Town car to perform emergency triage on an injured guy, bleeding pretty bad........ambulance arrives in a few minutes and thanks me for my help..... That's me, my Ferrari and police, love to all!
Blog #5 Had real trouble with my first 5 digti VIN car as the county wouldn't sell me plates...HPD Auto theft had to inpspect the car to verify the info to the Tax Office........a few days later I am in the grocery at the ATM and this guy walks up i civilian clothes and says' How'd it work out, with your yellow Ferrari??" Confused I say "it's good, who are YOU?" "I'm officer _______, from HPD Auto Theft......" LOL! So they'll even know if the wrong person is driving my car! ROTFLMAO!
Uh huh. Go away mate. You can't defend your position and you're beaten down. So rather than deal with you'll try to abuse someone's honesty. Hell its only my personal opnion about that job. I never sold anyone anything they didn't want. But hey. If you've got the guts, why don't you deal with and That one. Because you know, its a real damn case. And the Judge dismissed it within one minute and spent ten minutes telling the cop what a piece of **** he was. Apparently that Judge had already dealt with 6 similar tickets from that cop on the same day. Guess thats what happens when you lump them all together to get your over-time for showing up at court. Or is that guy not an idiot because was 'doing his job'? Your problem mate is that you can't understand context and you are treating these as personal attacks. Hell it took you several posts before you even figured out the concept of people being different things at different times. I don't know a thing about you. I don't know what you do or what kind of tickets you write. I frankly don't care. This topic is not about you and you need to learn how back off from a situation and not think its always about you.
Wow.......this thread has definitely gone off the tracks! 1. Traffic laws by in large are stupid, but in a sense they have to be. Everyone on this board, including our friends the LEOs, know that a highly-tuned sportscar being driven by an attentive skilled driver (perhaps with track time under the belt) is far safer than an overweight SUV or Pickup driven by a distracted unprepared driver with little experience. The problem is you can't write one set of laws for one group and another set for the shleps out there. So....the laws have to be set up for the worst case scenario. I disagree with most posted speed limits....so I consistently ignore them. If I get ticketed (which hasn't happened in >15 years) I will pay my fine...period. 2. The law is the law. If you don't like it, then go through the process of trying to change it. But don't break the law and then cite "that law is stupid anyway" as a viable defense. That is plainly childish. 3. Everyone knows this, including our LEOs. 4. In my limited experience being pulled over I have found the LEOs to be extremely respectful and very cognizant of point #1. I got pulled in my Maserati and the LEO comented on what a nice car I had and asked me to pay a little closer attention to what I was doing. In reality he should have nailed me to the wall. BUT, he didn't, he realised that he was dealing with a professional in a highly tuned car and that I wasn't really doing anything unsafe, just that the general ignorant public would perceive it as such and he had to pull me over. I was also extremely respectful to him, and that helps. 5. To say that a LEO enforcing the law is an "idiot" is ignorant beyond words. You should be ashamed of yourself for that one. All I know is I get paid a lot more than a LEO, and they put their lives on the line. I know a LEO will do whatever it takes to bring down a child molester and possibly lose his life in such a struggle...........would you? For the most part my hat goes off to them.
Do we just hate Adolf or do we lump all Nazis together, foot-soldiers, ranking officers, high command, etc.? You are a very intrinsic part of a broken system, but you are part and parcel of it. Regardless of how well one of you articulates their feelings or how cool you are to hang with or what cars you like.
No, it didn't take me several threads to understand anything you said...I was being sarcastic. Sorry you missed it, I should have types slower Believe me, I don't take anything you say personally. I merely respond to your rediculous statements. The more you write, though, the more I suspect none of your stories are true. I also suspect that while you have received many tickets, you didn't beat them. I also suspect you have been on the wrong side of the law many times...possibly even arrested a time or two. I may be wrong. Doesn't matter to me either way...people make mistakes and pay for them (sometimes). But that's just my opinion...I really don't care either way. You're really not that important to me Mate. If it makes you feel better that you think I am "beaten down", that's ok...it's a little silly though, isn't it. If you need a "victory" to validate something to yourself, fine...you win. I never abused your honesty...but my personal feelings about you happen to match your self assessment. That's all. I never thought this was about me...in fact it doesn't apply to me at all (you won't ever see me writing tickets or running radar). That's what makes me such a wonderful person. I am defending the profession and what I believe is right. Don't worry, I really don't take this personally. Why do want me to go away, though? Aren't you having fun?
Now we can be friends...if you're ever in SC, give me a call. By the way, I have called off the BOLO so you shouldn't have any issues. IF one of FL's finest didn't read my note rescinding the BOLO, just tell him Gil said you're good to go I agree, you in a sportscar are most definitely safer than my father in an SUV. And my "Mate" is not knocking all cops all the time...remember, he said they are only idiots when they are enforcing the laws his engineers say are idiotic Who says mate? I think Australians, right? Maybe he had some bad experiences down under? But his attitude is not going to win anyone over. I guess he will keep speeding (like you ) ... but he must be smarter than you because he beats all his tickets
LOL. And I'm the one making ridiculous statements? Its a profession. Not a person. There are plenty of idiots in your profession and if you sit around enforcing stupid laws, you're an idiot. Thats the end of it. Its a system and if you're part of that system you are just as much to blame as the system itself. You think people can hide behind the defense 'its my job' or 'its the system.' Have a nice day. You're not worth the amount of time I've spent on you.
You see, not once did I call you a name...I may have agreed with your assessment that you are a scumbag, but those were your words. I am pretty certain my assertions of you are not ridiculous. But of course you will never admit your past, nor should you have to on an open forum...that's ok, you and I know the truth...well, you know the truth and I suspect it. But yet, you have to stoop to a 5th grade mentality and call me an idiot. Anyway, I don't enforce traffic laws...but I have utmost respect for those who do. First you say you separate cops work...if they work homicides they are ok, but the minute they write a ticket they are idiots...same cop, but different function. NOW, you say it's a system. If you don't know me, how do you know I'm not worth the time you spent? From what I read, you didn't put much thought into it, so it likely didn't take you any time. Anyway Mate, even if you think I am an idiot...although I don't enforce idiotic traffic laws, I do enforce other laws you probably think are stupid (drugs, terrorism, fraud)...I don't think ill of you. I think you are misguided and off base. And I don't care what mistakes you made in your past...but I don't think you an idiot, per se. Sorry you won't be around anymore...hopefully you got something out of all this. The way I see it, either don't speed, or try and change the "system". If you're not part of the solution, aren't you part of the problem?
gilnsammy wash your hands of the #$%faced Aureus------he isn't worth the dust you knock off your keyboard as you type----funny thing is, I have been around clowns like him on Fchat over the years---he isn't the first---there seems to be a new police hater on here every month or so, some toolbag that hates the government, police, etc PS---I have received 14 PM's in the last few days from different members saying he ain't worth DODO!!!
It's all in good fun, believe me. This guy is nothing...now a good Charleston defense attorney...that's a challenge I think the more we go through this, and the more Aureus types, the more people will see what he is all about. He, in my opinion, has discredited himself from here forward. Now when he posts in other venues, people will take it for what it's worth. PM sent...
Yep thats it. I just hate cops I don't hate cops mate. You serve a vital function in society that needs to be done. Its a **** job without the proper rewards thats put people in danger every day for the rest of society's safety. There are also a bunch of bull**** and idiotic things cops have to do as a part of their job. Hiding behind 'the job' and saying a cop is not responsible for his actions or the laws he enforces is a crap excuse mate. We all do stupid things as part of our life and as a part of our job. You don't seem to be willing to own up to yours.
