sometimes when I have problems I just remember that I am connected w all other beings on Earth on a tiny planet in an ancient and immense universe

The key detail is that we are all fundamentally connected to eveyrthing in this ancient immense universe

Everything on this planet including the planet is made up of excess star material that wasn't used in the creation of our sun, and our sun comes from an ancient sun that supernova'd many billions of years ago so we are nothing more than recycled star material

For those that want the original paper and the arguments for and against Dr. Bostrom's idea go here:

    http://www.simulation-argument.com/

The fascinating part of Bostom's hypothesis is that it has not been accurately refuted. The percentages are pretty high that he is correct.

    Dr. Bostrom's homepage is here:

    http://www.nickbostrom.com/

Bostrom is a serious scholar and has MANY peer reviewed papers. He is at Oxford University.

I was thinking more of the episode where the boys discover that Earth is just an alien reality show that is about to be canceled.

I have actually thought about this before, coincidently it was right after watching the Matrix. Either way, does its really matter.

well, if it's true, it might matter insofar as there could be a power failure at any moment. i'd hate to have to reboot and start from scratch...

then again, maybe the state of the world is saved, so the reboot is seamless.
