    I will buy you a silver subscription if you edit a two page essay i had to write for my german language class? ill finish the essay in just a bit and post it. Ill be honest i had to use the translator for part of it because i simply dont have time for this damn thing lol....

    I'd strongly recommend doing it yourself. Your teacher will IMMEDIATELY recognize the language being from a native speaker, thus noticing you cheated ;)

    Just for the record, the term "Deutschland, Deutschland über alles in der Welt" originated in the early 19th century when Germany was fragmented in tiny little states which were mainly occupied with fighting against themselves (not necessarily military, more politically). There were movements at that time whose primary goal was the unification of Germany as a single state, and they created that line "Germany above everything in the world" -> their first goal (..above everything else in the world...) was to unite Germany. The common understanding of "the country Germany is above every other country in the world" was a later 'interpretation' of guys like that well-known little Austrian with the funny accent, and never thought of by the original creators of the text.
