During the interviews after the race he was wearing a big fat watch with a bracelet. It doesnt look like the usual Tag Heuer. Is is a Panerai??

No way its a Panerai. His deal with Tag is longstanding.

Yep, you're right, I almost ran to the Panerai store at 6:45 on a Sunday morning.

Jeez... I'm running off to pick up this new Carrera. I'm not a huge Tag fan, I much prefer Omega, but this one is gorgeous.

I just checked out the Tag Heuer website and it is a gorgeous piece. I think I will pick up one of these, but I will be walking to the store.

Correct! It is the new Grand Carrera. Not available in the US until the beginning of next month but Kimi has been wearing his since last year.

Don't hold this to me yet but the last I heard was that the suggested retail of the chrono was going to be $5,700. I should have exact prices this week and I will have the actual watches soon. I've seen the prototypes and this is a whole new level for TAG. Beautifully made. Of course, call or e-mail for the F-chat price.

Tags have always been 'too complicated looks' for me. however, the latest carerra is just beautiful. simple :)

Most Tag's, Omega's, Panerai's, Breitling and the rest use ETA movements, the only difference in the watch is the case and the dial... ETA owns Valjoux which makes the Panerai movements, the 7750, and 7751 and Tag's are usually the same or the other ones used are the 2804, the 2824 most of the time. The companies do some of their own tweaks but the base movement is the same. ETA is owned by Swatch which owns Omega. In the Omega range the co-axial is a george daniels heavily modified ETA and the Broad Arrow Speedmaster uses the Frederique P 1185 modified. Patek, Vacheron, Piaget, Audemars P, Rolex, GP, Zenith, IWC, and a few others still make their own movements, Ebauches, but most are ETA... Even the old Rolex Daytona used the Valjoux 72, then the Zenith 401, and now it's own movement....

Is it just me, or does the tach in the background show an indicated 4,500 RPM redline?

It sure does show 4500 rpm. I hope its not from a 1991 Ford Taurus V6.
