what ever happened to those debris after a crash, or like yesterday, when honda's front wing fell off?

do the track crews keep it? or they send it back to the team, or throw them into the grandstand and maybe some lucky sob will get hit??

as far as i know the big pieces go back to the team. the tiny shards go in the tracks' dumpster.

I remember when... a few years back that diamond company had a promo going with the Jaguar F1 team at Monaco, and put a monster rock in the nose of each of the cars. Then one crashed, took the nose off and the diamond was never found... Talk about debris worth keeping! They were worth $200,000 each, IIRC... someone can fill in the details that I've missed.

I don't remember the dollar figure, but yes the diamonds were definitely worth a lot. After the loss was discovered and the team had combed the street to no end, the team offered a 50k Jag for the diamond's return...shockingly, no one returned the stone.

I don't think there was ever much follow-through to that event, and people started questioning the legitimacy of the whole stunt. Personally, I don't think the diamond was legit. It did coincide with their promotion of Ocean's 12.

Hell, in Monaco a 100k diamond found on the street is an everyday occurrence.

That's why the Jaguar team was in such trouble... they couldn't find out which one was theirs...

Big pieces are collected for returning to the team, small pieces come home! I'm going to miss it when they get rid of the aero bits...
