I'm looking for M10x1.5 automotive exhaust locknuts, preferably those with the side-split to prevent the nut from backing-off during thermal expansion. My old nut appears to be black-anodized? Where can I find these?

Those nuts are copper or copper plated , very pricey from F-parts houses, like 2 or 3 bucks ea.. Odd thread pitch for a m10.

I need a couple here myself, Verell, anyone?

I called my local parts guy. He doesn't have them in stock, but can deliver. Few days lead time. Minimum order is 100 pieces, so if you guys would split, I could put together an order and mail some stuff out. He didn't have a price yet, but said these nuts aren't very special, so not too expensive. Maybe 50 cents each.

If there's enough interest, I could ask him to dig a little deeper and get me a quote.

'bout the only place I can find them too, the're Monel a nickle-copper (Stronger than brass; slightly magnetic; and resistant to heat and corrosion, especially that caused by salt water and caustic solutions. Made of approximately 65% nickel and 35% copper.) even good 'ol mc-master doesn't carry them.

    Hi yelcab.
I'm interested in 12 of these. Do you think that it will be possible to send them by post? If not, no problem, I understand. Thanks.
If not, maybe I will help Hans with his order. Please let me know.

Are these the nuts (in this thread) you're speaking of at the heads??

Also, what torque should the ex manifold nuts at the head be tightend to?

    Thanks,

    Bob R.

I never saw this request until today. I will check out the nuts and I will let you know what they have. I am also out of town this week so I will be slow.

By the way 10mm 1.5mm pitch is a very odd size. On the ferrari, 30x series, it has always been 8mm 1mm pitch (I am going from rusty memory).

    Michell,

I'm getting 8mm x 1.25 on my 308's copper nut & stud size. The nut's taking a 12mm socket. It does not look like a "fine" thread. Maybe mine is a redo?

A touch on the expensive side, but usually help in those difficult access areas - front bank extractors spring to mind. Metric K-nuts, self-locking and reduced hex....for 8x1.25 thread, a 10mm tool will fit. You can also get the finer pitch, 10x1.5 is used on some Toyota exhaust studs fwiw!

    FWIW, M10 x 1.5 is the standard for M10. Then there is an M10 x 1.25 which is fine thread. (plus M10 x 1)

Attached is a link for those interested.

    Hi Yelcab.

Don't worry. Just PM me as soon you will be able to buy the nuts. Take your time. I need 16 exhaust copper nuts for a 308 QV 1983. I don't know exactly the right size, but these guys have the right answer in this thread!

    Regards

Sorry but I'm a little confused, EXACTLY which nuts do we need/who is the source and will they work on a 328?

You need to look at the metric thread/pitch of your exhaust bolt, and go from there. Exhaust nuts are NOT regular nuts - they contain a side-split that 'locks' them in place when they get hot and expand. They may be coated black, or be made of solid copper - either will work very well with steel bolts (8.8 grade). I purchased mine from Bel-Metric.
