For me the spelling of asslondo will always be the same, your point taken and a good one however I greatly dislike him as an entertainment / sports figure. In regards to Kimi I meant who thought that he would win 3/4ths into the season, at the start of the season I recall him being the favorite - however it looked pretty grim until about 60 min before the end of Brazil. As for how light he was, pretty light taking into consideration the yellow flag - but then again I am just regurgitating Speed Channel commentary in regards to this issue – honesty never really hurt. IMHO I do not think Renault will be a factor at all this season, but again I hope someone challenges Ferrari to make it interesting for the fans this year - no controversies, no cheating, great competitiveness, and for god's sake no more nazi orgies (I hate even typing that). Andrew
Massas best chance at being WDC is to be a good #2 driver. By pushing his team-mate when neither will benefit is just plain stupid as in Bahrain. Massa is the best on certain tracks. Push it there as will be allowed by the team (read Kimi). Pick up the 2nd places elsewhere. Wait for **** to happen as it surely will. His strategy should be to ease into the WDC not be all in each and every hand dealt to him. He is in the best car. He can do it.
Alonso came in 3 laps earlier and he drove the piss out of the car to stay in 6th as long as he did and that is why his engine went. Ferrari knew that they had a huge speed advantage and after the first lap dialed the car back down to easy running mode. If Ferrari had a reason to run harder then they would have. They saved their engines for the next race. They could easily have won this race by 1 minute if the saw the need to.
Realistically, the biggest concern for your $10,000 will be after mid season when Kimi's pretty much a lock and Ferrari makes Kimi let Massa win again (like in Bahrain). It appears at this time, that how many times they do that will determine your bet.
It is higly unlikely that Kimi is able to pass Massa on his own merit. Look at how much trouble some had in Barcelona with passing cars that were two seconds a lap slower. That's still the problem with F1. No passing. So it all comes down to qualifying (and starting well, which Massa did) and if Kimi did find an edge with his new set-up than Massa's in trouble. Otherwise, Massa is still a good bet for pole and thus wins.
Let me rephrase...The likelyhood of Kimi passing Massa is far greater than Massa being able to pass Kimi.
Andrew, I tried to do you a favor by pointing out that ridiculous mischaracterizations like making a mockery of someone's name says more about you than it does about him. There are plenty of massa critics around here, have you seen anyone lampooning his name? It is better to let your facts speak for themselves than to triviliaze your argument by sophomiric antics. Alonso was not the only one to benefit from the yellow flag. That yellow flag affected everyone equally. I know he ran light, he didn't run as light as some folks here seem to think. And runnign light, in and of itself, was not going to get Piquet Jr. into Q3. The Renault has speed, You'll see it mroe and more in the coming races. So much for Alonso's lack of development skills.
We will see, I will very surprised if this speed materializes however if it does it will speak volumes for Alonso. As for the gross and albeit immature mischaracterized mockery of the former World Champion's surname my most sincere apologies, your point taken sir. Andrew
You got that right. I think what Mac's missing this season is a 780 page Ferrari dossier. Sorry, I couldn't resist
What I think is funny is Alonso has not won a single race or even landed in the top 3, yet we have people bashing Massa still? Congrats to Massa, its nice to see him doing well.
+1 Renault speed improvemet was legit. While Alonso was running lighter than Ferrari, his form is clearly not explained by the fuel load.
I see the Ferrari doing well. Massa on the other hand is doing nothing more than the previous #2s did.
I suppose if he was doing more than the #2s do, he would be the #1, and Kimi would be the #2, in which case you'd be whining about Kimi. Your posts baffle me. Do you have your own Massa hate club? Sorry that Ferrari got a 1-2 finish with Massa, instead of a 1-1, like you seem to expect. You are the only person on this site on my ignore list, and whenever I dare to look at your posts, it's always more of the same - whining about Massa. Get over it. BTW, this is the Massa support thread. Thanks for your support.
After thinking long and hard, I'd have to agree. BMW comes close with Heidfeld, as does McLaren with HK. However our own Felipe Massa takes the cake.
When was the last time we saw Heidfeld make a significant mistake? I think Massa is more mistake prone, just look at Malaysia as ONE example. Ferrari would be more consistent with Heidfeld.
Heidfeld seems to be in a slump, Kubica is driving towards the podium while NH hangs around in 6th place.
i'd blame the stupid SC rules over Nick Heidfeld. car comes out just as the driver has fumes left in the car. option a : hang in for 3-4 laps, retire because u ran outta fuel, option B : bring him in, take a 10 sec penalty. stupid rule.
I guess having me on ignore, you missed my posts where I said Massa did a good job at Barcelona Get over Massa?!? I will when he finally delivers a WCC to the team. Put me back on ignore, I really don't care to hold any further discussion with you.
Your posts are angry and one sided, I think that if you want people to take you seriously and not put you on “ignore” you should try to tone your posts down just a bit. Again this is a Massa support thread that I started it in direct response to your Massa Sucks thread – Massa is one of the best race car drivers in the world and has secured a seat and a lucrative contract with Ferrari Scuderia racing team the pinnacle of all motor racing – “Massa sucks” ………………………… give me a break. FORZA FERRARI FORZA MASSA Andrew
At the beginnign of the SpeedTV broadcast, they had a segment on Rubens Barrichello to start. It got me to thinking about how great a driver Rubens wa in that #2 seat at Ferrari. It also reminded me of an interesting fact that most of you Massa-sycophants are likely oblivious to: When Rubens signed with Ferrari, most of the F1 press was surprised, Rubens was #1 at Stewart and was viewed in much the same fashion that guys like Kubicka are. Teh prevailing question amongst F1 journalists was why would a driver like Rubens move to Ferrari to be a #2 when he could stay at Stewart or move elsewhere and be #1? Cut to 2006 when Massa was announced to replace Rubens. The prevailing sentiment amongst F1 journalists was of all drivers to fill that seat, why Massa? There's the difference between the two: When Rubens was signed, everyone wondered why Rubens would stoop to take the drive, when Massa was signed everyone wondered why Ferrari would stoop to take him? This is similarly borne out in the results: Rubens twice finished second in the WDC and delivered multiple WCCs to the team. Massa on the other hand has gone from 3rd in the standing sin 2006 to 4th in 2007 and has failed to deliver teh WCC to the team in either season. The only reason the team even got the WCC in 2007 was thanks to teh FIA and the Hungarian stewards, it was not earned on teh track. Those of you who think Massa is such a great #2 ought to take a close, hard look at Rubens tenure at Ferrari to see what a good #2 ought to be doing. Massa, for all the claims his supporters raise on here, has yet to reach the level of Rubens before him. There is nothing - nothing - that Massa is doing in the cockpit that Rubens had not. The Ferrari is clearly the class of the field in 2008. There is no excuse...none whatsoever...for Ferrari to not finish 1-2 every race and in the final standings.
I'm sure not much thought was put into this statment, if you truly mean this you have a poor understanding of motor sports. Ferrari was handed nothing - the others cheated and Mclaren would have never been as fast with the Ferrari documents. Andrew
