As a newbie I need your help alot. I am trying to sell one of my corvettes to help me buy a Fcar. The car is '79 that has been greatly modified with a LS1 engine updated to an
LS6 with a whole lot of other modifications amounting to about 35,000. I have advertised it on corvette sites. Today I received the e-mail that I have attached to this thread.
I would appreciate your thoughts on whether this is legtimate or not. As you can see I have responded. This may not go any further but if it should I would appreciate your
    thoughts. Thanks.

    Hello Lloyd Wood,
My name is Mr Henry J. Dickens,Procurement agent for Prime Automobiles Limited located at #87 Old Kent Road, London SE15 1JF, England.
We buy auto machines for customers here in Europe, and we get paid in commission, after payment has been confirmed to have been received by the seller. We have a client who wants to buy your vehicle for his son who just graduated from a University in Ontario,Canada.

WHY DO WANT TO SELL YOUR 1979 CORVETTE?

I also have a 2004 corvette and we travel alot so I usually drive the 04 and so the 79 is not getting used.

WHAT IS THE FIRM PRICE OF YOUR VEHICLE?

    $22,000

(PLEASE ATTACH ATLEAST TWO RECENT PICS THAT ARE LESS THAN ONE MONTH OLD SO THAT WE CAN FORWARD THEM TO HIM FOR EVALUATION)THIS YOU HAVE TO DO IF THE PICS IN THE ADVERT ARE MORE THAN ONE MONTH OLD OR IF THEY ARE JUST STOCK PHOTOS.

ATTENTION: ANY ACCIDENT HISTORY AND ARE YOU THE FIRST OWNER?I ALSO HOPE THAT THE MILAGE FROM THE ODOMETER READING IS CORRECT AND MAINLY FREEWAYS.

I am not the first owner. I purchased the vehicle in state of Kansas which is rural community so I am assuming that the majority of the mileage was
on open roads. I have owned the for only 5 years and have only driven it approximatey four thousand miles. It has been garaged for the entire time
that I owned it. I do not know about the history of the car as I bought it from a car lot who had purchased it from the owner and I have no idea
whether he was the original owner. I am not sure about accident history. My mechanic while doing work on the car discovered that the gas tank had
been replaced which he said usually indicates that it had been involved in an accident. He did go over the car thoroughly and could not find any other
indications of accident damage. I purchased the car as a project that I was going to work on myself but I met this GM mechanic who was working on
my other Corvette and he talked me into all the modifications that were listed on the advert. Obviously these modifications were well beyond my
capabilities so I just wrote checks while he did the work. The pictures on the advert are the most current pictures, the car has not been driven since
pictures were taken as we have been away. Probably the biggest negative to the car other than being almost 30 years old is the paint. The car was
painted a year ago by some friends of my mechanic and they did not do a good job. At a distance it looks great and I get a lot of thumbs up when I
drive it but upon close inspection you can see the flaws.

MY CLIENT TAKES CARE OF THE SHIPPING CHARGES,HANDLING BILLS AND MY COMMISSION.

Looking foward to a prompt response to my inquiry.
    My regards to you

Wood please watch for a cashiers check sent for well over the total amount with a request you send the balance back western union. If that happens I guarantee its a scam. Also don't be fooled by a money order or cashiers check. Scammers copy legit routing numbers and account numbers from companies so banks tell you the checks are good but 10 days later when they are returned bacause they are forged then the money you already sent back is gone and the bank expects you to pay. Finally be very careful dealing outside the US is almost a death sentence in regard to any hope of getting your money back if its a scam. Its hard enough even if the scam is in the US only.

The way to handle international sales is to insist that they use a domestic agent (like a local car dealer or attorney) to buy your vehicle.

The scammers will flee from you when you suggest such a thing...real buyers won't flinch.

I am british and we don't talk/write the way the email is written. The give away is the use of the # for number. We would say 83 Old Kent Road, Americans would say #83 Old Kent Road.

Henry J Dickens !! Ha, we don't wear Bowler hats anymore! Nor do we use the term 'auto machines' say that to an english guy and he'll just look strangely at you.

Final thing for me is that it mentions commision early on. Not very English. We tend to leave talk of money (what we get) until last.

    Anyway, Scaaaaammmmm!
