http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GaqmxE_fmj0&feature=related glad, its not a 997GT2 or he would be filming an empty track ahead.....
you think so ? with a 100 hp more and 60ms shifts it is actually not pulling away that fast at all........i would've thought it would pull away stronger. anyhow, just shows what porsche is capable of doing out of it's ancient rear engine platform....yes, and without knight rider lights on the steering wheel
I may be wrong, but what I saw as most interesting is that the braking was earlier in the Scuderia (could have hit the binders much later and carried more speed into and thru the corner for sure) and that once in the corners, the line taken by the driver of the Scuderia appears to be sub-optimal often in comparision to the GT3 - Notwithstanding those failures, the Scuderia still led out.
can't even tell you how sure I was that is was going to be made the scuds driver's fault......coooome on, puhlease ! credit is due where it's due and the GT3 is doing a damn fine job of holding on.
I agree......the Scuderia driver was braking way too early and the GT3 was always coming closer just before the turns. The Scud driver was driving too conservatively .
Why is the OP on this board? For the past two months, every post that is not praising a Porsche is putting something else down. This is one of the tamer comparisons.. go check out the GTR threads. Go to porschelovers.com and leave Fchat to the F lovers.
in that case, composure of the car would not have allowed him to stay on the track if he would have went any faster.... you can see the scud fish-tailing out of the bends, so it is obvious, that he was pushing it. did you guys also add another 75kg to the GT3's weight (passenger) ? you didn't ? thought so.......
Not to mention the fact that this is one of the tightest track configurations I've ever seen, and its in the WET!! Please, on a more open track with longer straights, this would have been a far more embarrassing vid for the Porsche.
now it's the rain' fault.... can't wait for the next excuse...... what i have to agree with is that it should have been embarrassing for the GT3 as by specs of both cars it should be far slower....however, it is not and that's what counts.
IMO......this is a guy getting his first driving lesson in a Scud on a track......the instructor is in the GT3.
Hi Troll. This video doesnt prove anything. Just that none of them are pushing it. The only thing that i agree with is that the Scud didnt pull away that much on the straight which just confirms that they are not really pushing it.
instructors on tracks always lead to set the pace.....never follow. everyone in the world knows how capable the GT3 is on a track..... 996GT3 vs F430 on track http://youtube.com/watch?v=OZk--Qq21ck again 100 hp difference in favour of the F430
I'll be serious for a moment. Even the F430 is faster than the GT3............watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ahj3TzweuxY&feature=related
Precisely the point - wagging OUT of the turns does NOT address the fact that the driver is braking way too early - Missing the line most of the time - and trying to make it up with a total foot-to-the-floor out of the corner (whilst the traction control is working away). Had they braked later and brought more speed into the turn and hit the proper line, the exit would have been much quicker and more controlled. But what do I know? I have only done a few hundred hours in track time over the last 20 years - I am sure you have logged more seat time and can speak to this in a more informed way.
..........or this if you don't understand Japanese......http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZk--Qq21ck&feature=related
check post #16......i posted the exact same link. now....first of all, it's a 996 GT3 so again the F430 has an advantage of 100hp. secondly it's not a track it's a highspeed oval where the F430 passes at a higher speed. check Hockenheim and NBR times: Ferrari F 430 F1 1.12,7 min 7.55 min 01/06 Porsche 911 GT3 (997) 1.11,7 min 7.48 min 07/06
S.........I'm going to shoot you the next time I see you.......stop throwing figures at us......I hate figures.
if I were a Porsche owner, and my TT got an ass whippin' by the GT-R, I'd think again... as for the stuff written up about the GT2 filming a blank screen, come on... 1st, the Scud and the GT2 have neck to neck performances, but the Scud's electronics should give it an edge around a track... 2nd, there is still no head to head road or track comparison test out there yet, so hold on to your pants... having said all that, I'd rather loose by a fraction, and own a car which has a greater resale value, collectible value, richnest in finishing, no "fast and furious" spoilers and looks, no "4WD brothers and younger sisters", and not so many look-alikes wherever I go... have you guessed what I'd like to own now! hehehehehehe but I do understand those guys... I owned a few Porsche's myself... it's close guys, but no cigar! you'll always be missing that "je ne sais quoi" that only maranello can give you...
