The Mongoose is a very nice replica of the 1980s Corvette GTP cars, I believe the Mongoose is road legal, not sure about the Mosler being road legal

    Mongoose

    Motor LS 7 7.0 litre 505 H.P. 470 ft.lbs. torque
Transmission 4 Speed Auto RPM 4 speed auto
    Wheelbase 107"
    Weight 2565 lbs.
    Suspension C5 Bilstien Shocks w/coilovers
    Brakes C5
    Wheels CCW CCW 17" x 9" front 17" x 11" rear
Rear End C5 C5 Trans axel
    Steering Manual Custom Manual Rack

    The GTP Turnkey w/LS 7 427C.I. 505 H.P. w/A/C $99995.00

    Mosler MT900's weight was 2600lbs, $200,000.00
    LS6 powered, 435hp,
but the next generation will have the LS7.
Suspension uses C5 uprights, and Mosler designed wishbones, SLA, w/coilovers.
    Tranny is a Getrag G50, 6-speed.
Body is carbon fiber, chassis is made up of a composite center tub,
with 4130 subrames front and rear.

They sound very equal on paper, so I guess it comes down to which style you prefer

Def. Mosler for me. I had thought you could get a lot more power than 435Hp, but Mr. Mosler is just obsessed with saving weight, and I believe R&T said it was unbelievably fast. I think they were talking about the MT900S, though.

I'll take an Ultima instead. btw the Mosler is just barely road legal. Probably the same for the Mongoose.

Didn't the Mongoose go out and smash some track records. Pretty serious piece of kit. Not sure ANY car will touch it for 100k. (maybe even 500k)

The Mongoose was called a "Corvette" when it ran in IMSA. It was built by Lola and was very fast with a turbo V-6.

Both very nice but I wonder how the Factory 5 GTM stacks up against them. The Factory 5 is about $20,000 and Vette donor is about $ 8,000. So for about $50,000 you are in the ball park. I am shure the Mosler handles better and the factory 5 has some QC issues with door fit and axels. but a big $$$ diference which on the street the handling dif you would not notice. More power on these cars is kind of a waste as they go fast enough and all you will do is waste tires.

I drove a supercharged Mosler MT900 (725 RWHP) and it was unreal. The fastest car I have ever been in. They are definitely road legal. Lots of Warren's $$$ went into the chassis engineering and testing, not sure the history of the Mongoose development. You should go see the Mosler shop when you are in Florida. It's only about an hour away from Miami Beach.
They have recently done some chassis tweaking to get the extra hp of the supercharged car to hook up at lower speeds. Third gear was only useable with mild throttle modulation when I drove one. So much power in such a lightweight car.
    You would love it!
    :)

1600 i believe... on race fuel of course....

but it had a really neat 2 fuel system set up so it runs on pump gas with around 600hp untill you want to use all 1600!

Mosler hands down. The KIT CAR article on the Mongoose shows the interior and it looks like A$$. The Mosler is 100% street legal, and being in your backyard you shouldn't have any problem with support should something go wrong.

The Mosler is also a LOT lighter than what you show above:

Didn't the new factory ultima pull some rediculous 0-100-0 time? IIRC, it was like 7s.

Horsepower to horsepower (being equal), I do not think a Mosler will touch the Mongoose on a track. It really is a true race car from the get go.

But what exactly says the Mosler isn't? They're built much like their MT900R brothers in Europe.

    Bill h,

If the Corvette GTP copy is an exact copy then would it make more sense to buy that than the Mosler because there is a vintage class of racing it could also run in while the Mosler is too new and would be excluded. And can I ask, do the Corvette GTP's ever come up for sale and how many did they make? Just a thought.

Get the mongoose, Its cheaper by alot and that leaves alot of money on the table to make the car more what you want it.
