First time I've ever heard a Busa called beautiful. I think it is a odd design which makes it look portly, but hey to each his own.

Too big, too heavy, no? All the regular 1000cc sportbikes are rediculously too fast nowadays, and they are 150 lbs lighter than the 'busa.
The old ZX11 was a great bike too; some drawbacks of course.

I saw a 17 year old kid run a 9.2 at 151 with a 08 busa with an exhaust and a lowered busa on speed a couple days ago. Thats crazy to think a bike is that FAST with a grand worth of mods.

They call the Hayabusas "coffin on wheels" in the Philippines! Almost 75% of the Busas imported there killed their owners. Not sure if it was the bike's fault or that the riders were just too over confident with their (lack of) riding skills.

They are scary fast...it does the 1/4 mile in the high 9s at 146mph bone stock. You can get over your head too easy for an inexperience or dare devil rider...I have had mine at an indicated 165 in 4th gear with two more gears to go...I have ridden nothing like it in my ~32 years of riding. While it is a great handling bike that is a blast to ride, a Busa should never be bought as a first bike or by anyone without some good rider training ... I recommend the Kevin Schwantz school ... http://www.schwantzschool.com/2008site/index.html

Your are correct if you want to go road racing...but for a fun weekend bike, the Busa is great...the extra weight actually helps with stability in high speed runs...especially if there is any wind ... it also helps on the interstate when around big trucks, ect...unlike other bikes, the new aero package for the 2008 model was designed in the wind tunnel with a rider aboard for increased high speed stability. After over a decade of American V-twins, I am thrilled with the performance ...

You'd like mine, then: 2002 RC51 is a 1000cc v twin, and has a nice sound. All power to 10k rpms and great everything else. Get a ride on one some day. :)

Love the RC51's (SP1/2) looks, but the "peaky" engine makes one work the gears too often. The narrow power band is so tricky to be in that one has to constantly "snick" it into the right gears for optimum results! Could use a steering damper as well. But other that that, its a helluva bike for the money!!! The TL1000R's are a good bike too. Its a shame the TL1000S notorious "tank slapper" attitude destroyed the image for both the S and the R's.
