Adopting the idea and cultivating some information from this original thread, I wanted to put pictures of Ferrari paint code stickers in one place, to be used as a reference now and in the future. There are only a few dozen stickers below - hundreds more still exist. If you could post your own, that would be fantastic. I also want to try to narrow down the exact periods during which each color was used. So it would be a big help if you posted your serial number or model year along with the picture.

Please take notice of minute differences in colors, like Rosso Corsa FER 300/12 as opposed to Rosso Corsa FER 300/12 DS, Argento Nurburgring 101/C as opposed to Argento Nürb, urgring Metallic FER 101/C, Grigio Titanio FER 3238 as opposed to Grigio Titanio 3238, and so forth. Every little nuance counts. Also, maybe someone could explain why some paint code stickers have this: Per Ritocchi Usare/For Repair Works, PPG REFINISH.

You've got way too much time on your hands! That explains a few things. :)

Hey Carbon, in what year did Ferrari switch from Glasurit to PPG and wasn't there also an earlier manufacturer? Do you have any examples of non-standard/out of range/from sample paint stickers like the smurf blue 430?

No early blue on silver Glidden labels?? I'll see I can find one, I know the repros have been shown on here.

Interesting also to note the start of water based paint systems.....

That's great! It would be nice to know which stickers came from which era, or ideally the year and model of each car.

Why did Ferrari went from Glasurit to PPG? I thought Glasurit is much better quality paint and it's still available.

I'm not sure when they switched; that's one of the many questions I hope is answered in this thread. Unfortunately, I have no pictures of custom color PPG stickers, such as the one for the Smurf blue F430.

Anything you can contribute, Alan, would be greatly appreciated.

That's something else I hope to determine with this thread.

If we're lucky, someone here knows the answer to that and will chime in and enlighten us.

I think the early cars used Ditzler paint. Ditzler was eventually bought out by PPG. PPG still has the original paint chips for the early paints. They gave me the formula for Grigio Ortello 2.443.813 . It was used on my 1969 365 GT 2+2. I have no idea what the paint sticker looked like or where on the car it was located.

Nice. Now if only someone could produce a sticker in something other than red, black, yellow, blue...

Some of the stickers in the original post are of silver, green, white and champagne.

It's my understanding that the color and code "Grigio Ortello" and "2.443.813" originate from Italver, not Ditzler or PPG. Can you expound on your knowledge of Ditzler, when they were bought out, and so forth.

But try to find reproductions. No one will come clean as to who makes the current stickers. I'd love to find out if they can print up a correct silver one (or two) for me!

Hmmm, must be one of my off days. One or two of the parts places carry reproduction paint stickers. However, they are only in the most common colors. (Or blank and won't take ink from an ink jet printer) Since my car is 101/C and not available I've asked if they could either, a) ask the supplier if they either have, or could run up, my color code, OR b) tell me who the supplier is and I could ask them myself. So far, no luck. Not a big deal, it is only a paint sticker but, it would be nice to have all of the stickers in place after I refurb the engine bay.

What color is your car, Argento Nürburgring...? Glasurit made Argento Nürburgring FER 101/C from 1984 through 1997; in 1997, PPG picked it up. Yours is an '84 QV, right...? What's the date of production...? If it's in '84, I think it would be safe to say that Glasurit's mixture is what coats your car. If your car's date of production is in '83, we'll have to do some more digging.

Yep, 101/C. Although they didn't call it Argento Nurburgring back then, just Argento Met. Production is April 84.

Intersting idea, NNO. Sure would be nice if those labels were all attached to a painted surface. Sort of like this one.
    It's a 2005 612.

    Anything?

I'll try to find my Glidden labels...I wasn't trying to be obtuse.....JayGT4 (? IIRC) had them in repro and in those days it was filled out at the Factory on a squiggly handwriting with a ball point pen!

    After a few Moretti's you'd have it down pat...

The scanner, digital cam, computer etc. all stayed with Lady Valeria......

I just meant ALL paint systems went to water based, for low VOC compliance..white, in particular had troubles doing this.....
