As the weather improves here I'm having thoughts of getting my '89 TR out for some "fun in the sun".One of the wheels has a small scuff in it and that is something that I have always wanted to repaint. My local guy uses SIKKENS/AKZO NOBEL paints but can't seem to help me with an exact color match. Are there any experts out there that know the SIKKENS number that will give me the correct match? Thanks for any help!

Greetings... I don't think there is a paint code on file with Sikkens or any paint supplier for that matter. I would contact your local wheel remanufacturer. Even if the paint code was available they would probably not match. Wheels tend to fade and brake dust also changes the shade of the finish. Recommendations: Do all four. Keystone Automotive usually charges $179.00 per wheel and can turn them around in 2 to 3 days. The only pain is dismounting the tires then re-mounting. They do excellent work. Some guys do a repair on the effected area then spot finish. I could always tell and for the cost would prefer to do the entire wheel.

    Hope this helps

    Robbie,
Thanks for the info.I know what you mean about color matching-I'ts pretty easy to see differences on body work that has been repaired.I was hoping that there might have been someone out there that has come up with a "perfect match" for the TR wheel.I know,I know,we don't live in a perfect world!Your suggestion of repainting all four is probably the best answer. Thanks again.

FWIW, I believe the original paint code is Glassurit F 101 C.

Years ago I had a small chip on one of my TR ('86) wheels at the trim ring caused by my local F dealer during maintenance. I got a can of spray paint from them and using a fine detail brush and the paint and it was a PERFECT match, and still is today. I just looked at the can out in the garage for you and it is WURTH Lacquer Spray Metallic Silver, Art. No. 0892 181 - U. Maybe this will work for you. FWIIW, EDoug

EDOUG-Thanks so much for checking your paint sample and if your garage looks anything like mine then definitely the drinks are on me for venturing out there! I'll check it out, however the abrasion on my wheel is about equal to a one inch-by-one half inch scuff.I'm not sure that a brush paint repair will look good.I think it will have to be the complete wheel re-spray.I'm not giving up on your tip though. Thanks!

Chris-praise to you to.I'll see if my paint guy can cross-reference that code.Thank you much.

My car has less than 8,000 miles on it and I am the second owner.I'm trying to keep it nice. Thanks for the help.
