I WONDER if, choosing your past Ferraris, and your next F,
do you estimate more relevant the "performances" of the Car
    or the "Shape" ???

In my personal drive experience I found that the cars that I love
for their SHAPES, I do not like so much to drive,
as 328, 355, 575, and the cars of which I appreciate
their road PERFORMANCES I do not like at all their shapes,
    as 360, 430,599.

So - for me - the choose of my next Ferrari will be under a compromise,
and it is not good !
It is not exciting to spend a lot of money and get only 1 side of the car!

    So I wonder
    a) If in your Ferrari you find both the 2 qualitities ?
    b) and which car do you think the best F. to bring together performances and shape ?

I read here in the CHAT a guy writing " when you switch on your CAR, she returns the favour ? "

So I find that a lot of Ferrari, the most part, switch on my emotions only with their static shapes! (less with thier performances)
    and you guys ?

    For me its as follows:

    1) Looks
    2) intangible chemistry between driver and car
    3) performance

I dont go to the track and Im not a 16 yr old street racer so what do i care if some other car out performs mine ?

Sometimes I try to find a "perfect car" personally although I am aware that no car is perfect.

I can still remember that I sat in F40 6 years ago.
the friend of my dad drove and I loved F40
I still prefer F40 because it offers the shape and performance.

In contrast to F40, Enzo is ugly to me.
maybe, enzo offers much better performance, maybe.

For me, function follows form. I don't care if it's the ugliest car in existence, but when I am behind the wheel it better make the hairs on my neck rise.

I'll never use even a fraction of the performance here in the wastelands of the midwest, so for me it's all about look and feel.

Feel is everything to me. The feel of my 430 is unlike any car I have ever driven. I think it's a bad ass looking car as well, BUT the 360 is a better looking car. For that matter it doesn't get any better to me than a 365 as far as looks.

YES, besides SHAPE and PERFORMANCE, it's relevant the "feeling" that we have with the cars....
but with "feeling" do you mean the PLEASURE to drive ?

And there haven't been any cars since the 328/F40 era that really grab me. I think the Porsche 997 (all forms) still looks decent, but after 44 years or so it's hard to hit the ceiling with excitement over it. The cars I really love are all way behind the performance curve: 328, Daytona, Dino 246, Porsche 356 Speedster, etc. Maybe the F40 combines all three of your factors.

Shape, mechanical design, performance and the feeling.........

When it comes to these qualities I think Porsche does an excellent job. The design, engineering and executing of the 911 have always been an automobile icon.

Unfortunately for me Porsche comes off as being mechanical and lacks the passion as other cars. To me a Porsche is nothing more than an automobile engineered to be very very good at what it does. A Ferrari hardly qualifies as an 'automobile' in my books. If I had my say in house design, I would park a Ferrari in my livingroom.

For your same reasons I bought a Porsche Carrera 4, without any doubt, and I'm fully satisfied...from the car,
.....but speaking of the MYTH Ferrari I do not know toward which car to move my attentions for next purchase.
    ciao
