I've found a great deal on a fully loaded 07 YukonXL (suburban size) with 20 inch rims....... only thing is it has 102,000 miles already. It has been used by a limo service which explains the mileage but seems to be in good shape....

This will be my work truck, I'm a pro detailer and probably put about 17K-20K on my truck per year.

They're asking $21,000. Of course I would negotiate...

So is it worth it? Do you guys think it will last much longer? Will I have to be repairing it all the time?

I'm haven't purchased it yet, but am very tempted....

What are your thoughts and opinions about this?

    Josh

The way i see it is you're saving so much you could rebuild the drivetrain and still come out winning.
If its in good shape and you can get him down a little then take it and run.

Wait another 6 months, if gasoline goes to $6-7 you won't be able to give these things away.

Not sure yet, I would think I could buy an extended warranty. The regular warranty just ran out for the engine and drive train.

That's kind of what I was thinking too. I could start saving for a new engine, trainy and of course I would probably put different gears in it anyways to help with the gas mileage.

But seriously, the engine is only a year old with a lot of miles, wouldn't it still be good for another 100K miles you think??

$21K seems a bit much imo. But the mileage is fine I think. Every GM my parents have owned has had well over 100K miles with only minor issues in their lifetime.

My parents 1987 Astro van sold with 160K miles I believe, was still going strong with close to 300K last we heard. Current '99 Tahoe has ~170K.

Too much money for that number of miles. I doubt you'd be able to extend the warranty to anything that would make sense.

Did they break it in properly? Or just drive the crap out of it from day one?

Fuel prices, no warranty, over 100,000 miles already, it could be troublesome and in two years you will have to pay someone to take it from you with the cost of maintenance and fuel.

You also should check to see if they have any service records or anything. That many miles that quick doesn't leave much time for maintenance..

It was used by a limo service so I don't assume anything good or bad. Just a lot of miles from what it looks.

Of course I woud run a carfax on it myself.

If I were to buy it, I would seriously low ball them on the price, then have all the fluids from top to bottum replaced.

Is the 5.3L engine a Vette engine? I dont' think it is....

    I have 155, k on a 5.3.

no, it's not a che'vette engine (since it's 'merican, we can call it a motor) I wouldn't pay anywhere near 20k for the car I would bet that you could find one with 1/2 the miles for 5k more.

My cheby truck has been beat hard 20k towing, dirt roads, pedal to the floor since day one. No major tune up 'till 100k and it still has the factory pads and rotors.

I drove it today and broke the tires lose with it. tuff truck. I do think that I would shop further for a less worn one

I really need something that's the Suburban size, and to be honest I can't stand the design of the 06 and older..... to much side moldings.

    Thanks for looking though.

limo cars are always beat up inside and see a lot of abuse. If this one happens to be pretty clean I'd still wait at least a few more months. Gas WILL hit $5/gallon in many parts of the US and at that point people will be fire-selling just about every SUV that's not a 6 cylinder, diesel, or hybrid.

$21,000 is too much. I would ask for between $15,000 - $17,000 considering its a used limo.

I agree. At $15k it would be a good buy. Put the other 6k in the bank and prepare for a rebuild. You will likely get another 100k out of it but limo miles are not easy miles. Lots of stop and go around town. If it was alot of freeway miles then it is a different story.

I drive 168 miles round trip to the office and I can pack alot of miles on a car. My last Volvo had 245k and ran like a top when I got rid of it. The Landrover has 92k and I am looking to get rid of it. Some cars just don't take miles well.
