For those of you that appreciate something a little different, the last two pics are of my Macaw, Enzo and my Nash Bridges Cuda. Again, to all those that gave me their counsel, I greatly appreciate it - and trust me, I will heed your advice and get the car in for service.
Great pics Ron. Car looks great. Also curious..........you have a few muscle cars, what made you go with the 348 when it was new in 92??
Good question. I quess the answer is I like cars - all kinds of cars, and what boy doesn't grow up wanting a Ferrari? However, I have only had two cars that I would not part with, my 348 and the car pictured. It is an all numbers matching , 1 of 142 made, Challenger RT/SE that I restored, and not just with a checkbook. Image Unavailable, Please Login
beautiful example! I'm sure thankful you didn't get these pics out sooner. The outcome of the cleanest 348 online car show might have been different.
I was told that my "new" 355 belonged to Don Johnson back in '97. So does that make me Crockett or Tubbs? How about a Tubby Crock? Nice cars, house and bird. Is it just me, or do tan driver's side carpets actually leave the factory looking dirty? I have never seen a clean tan carpet... I mean look at this car -- no miles, pristine, and dirty tan driver's carpet. I hate to admit it, but it's why I just couldn't buy a car with light carpets! I'd go nuts.
WOW!! With a little cleaning and servicing you could be out winning some concourse events for sure!!!!! Incredible car, congrats and welcome to Fchat! Robert
I'm sure to the naked eye the mats/carpets are perfect. I've noticed thison everytan mat/carpet I've ever seen. light colors and garage floors no matter how clean don't mix! My grandfather kept plastic over his floor carpets in his Pontiac. A little dangerous if the heel slipped in braking!
Just read the thread mate. And the way certain people have responded on here does not surprise me. Some are very big on the attacking band waggon on fchat especially towards new guys, i have seen quite a few chased of this forum over the years And its a dammed shame you have to post pictures to prove you actually have a car. I did not see anything wrong with your original post and it always surprises the hell out of me how the meanies always seem to find a problem to gripe about. On the plus side the tossers are in the minority. The majority on here are great friendly guys with no band wagon or axe to grind against a newbie. The 348/355 section is usualy a cool place to be, it really is. Nice 348 example by the way And i used to watch Nash Bridgers my self, i like the ride
You'll understand better after you have been here more than 4 months and see some of the spam and trolls that come here. There are plenty of guys here who have been around for years and can tell you some stories about goons and pions that come here to BS and stir trouble. It is obvious the OP is not one of them but, I can't imagine owning a vehicle for almost 20 years and not knowing almost every thing about it and servicing it... That's just me...
You miss the word "posting", i have been posting on here for 4 months. But i have been reading Fchat for years. Ever wonderd why so many so called "lurkers" on fchat? So yes i do understand better, you are quite right
Thanks, I appreciate your post VERY much. I have shown the initial post to several of my friends and they too were at a loss to figure out what I did wrong. I guess I'm not as Ferrari sophisticated as I should be, at least according to some. As for the pedantic guy, well what is it they say about living in glass houses? But on the positive side, I have already learned a few things, so I'm pleased I joined. Thanks again. Ron
Ron, I loved seeing the pics of your car -- it looks like everything is completely original, like it was right out of the showroom. Fantastic. I was going to say "welcome to the brotherhood", but since you owned this car long before most of us owned ours, maybe you should be welcoming us!! Since you bought it new, I'd be interested in hearing what the new-Ferrari buying experience was like back in the early '90s -- much different than now, I'd imagine. A couple of questions: I noticed that there appears to be writing in a grease pencil on the underside of your pumpkin. Are those some original assembly markings from the factory? Also, I've never seen a cloth bag for holding the toolkit -- is that original, or something you added? Finally, nice "man cave" -- something to aspire to. I'd love to have a garage like that some day. - Eric
I know of a gentleman in New York who has a 328 and a Testarossa that he has NEVER driven since the day he brought them home from purchasing them new!
I get a lot of enjoyment from just looking and owning my cars, but that is just plain UNBELIEVABLE!! I could never stand owning a Ferrari without driving it, and can't understand someone being able to do that. PS - the OP's car is amazing!! Welcome to Fchat
Thanks Eric, and yes those are the original factory markings and what appears to be grime on the underside is actually undercoat over spray. There are literally hundreds of assmbly marks, paint daubs and writings on my 348. I will do the best I can to preserve these marks so that someday this car can be used as a restoration reference car. As I said earlier, I restored my Challenger, and in doing so I sought out very low mileage examples to emulate. As for the canvas bag holding the tool kit, here is the story on that issue: When I took delivery of the car, the tool kit leather was badly stained. I complained to the dealer and they ordered me a new kit; when I arrived at the dealership to pick it up, they were taking the new kit out of the bag and were going to throw the bag in the trash. I asked them if I could keep the bag, and when I installed the new kit in the car I did not take it out of the bag - it has been in that condition ever since! I don't know whether you noticed, but the car cover bag still has all the original tags on it. Thanks again, Ron
