    Dealer told me:
Prices on used 430 coupes and spiders are REAL soft. Softer than they anticipated.

Buyers in the 360 market are looking for the CS. My dealer said the demand for the CS is very strong. No story cars are still selling above MSRP.

My dealer has had 3 cancellations for new 430's (2 coupes 1 spider). And these people have been on the wait list for 3-4 years. Buyers are trying to get a Scuderia or wait for the 430 replacement.

    Agreed!

But each market has it's niche...Some dealers do better then others... So my views living with Ferrari enthusiast everyday, is diffrent from the dealers the OP works with!

With all due respect, an authorized Ferrari dealer is "living with" many enthusiasts every day; more enthusiasts than a small independent dealer in South Dakota with an inventory of two cars. I'm sure you have a very nice little dealership but let's get real. The Ferrari dealers have a pulse on the market because they make up the market, in large part.

While those people are waiting (another 3-4 yrs) I will be ripping it up in my 430. In fact, Im gonna go out right now and add to the 17, 500 miles I have on my 430 in honor of the "trying to get a scuderia or wait for the 430 replacement" crowd.

Truth be told........the people passing on their 430 allocations to either try to obtain a Scuderia or waiting for the "replacement" will in likelihood NOT get a Scud nor obtain the replacement, cause they will be pushed back further down the list. Lets see......I'm a dealer........that person passes on his 430 and now wants to be put on the list for the replacement. Hmmmmm....do I allocate one to my "good" customer who has taken his 430 when his time came or to someone who keeps passing on their "turn"?? Although not fair in the eyes of some......we all know the answer to that.

I was not insulting him! Not even in the least! I was stating everybody has a opinion on the subject of where the market is! We talked about alot here! I am insulted by your post..To answer your question Dave, why dealers are on this board?? I am a site sponsor!

Thank you! But I still stand by what I was saying...I unlike the dealer OP was speaking of, have not seen the 430 market go south..it's just like when we all ware talking about the 360 markets..some parts of the country are slower then others right now, and some are facing more of downturn the others...The cars being offered to us, and the retail buyer that we have calling in have not changed...Everyone, each dealer, each saleperson has there opinions on what the market is doing, and where it is going in regards to exotics...I just share what mine are!

There are many reasons people "pass" on cars. One reason is money, some have less today than they did when they ordered their car or got on a list, aother - times have changed regarding "resale", i.e. leasing and one year "right of first refusal" contracts, not to mention with the advent of the Scuderia and word of the 430 replacement, some wonder about the future value of a 430. I am sure there are many more reasons, including many more 430's for sale (some of which owned by people pressured to "deal") competing with those offered by dealers, both new and used. We are fotunate that Ferrari's appear to depreciate less and slower than other cars, but they are not impervious to market conditions. Those of us fortunate to have a Ferrari and also drive them, live in our own world, because there are sooooo many more people wishing to get into the drivers seat or even those who own a Ferrari who see the seat as a "throne" to be worshipped and seldom sat in. Best

I'm sure you have not seen the market go south and the Guana Indian Tribe of Brazil has not seen the 430 Market go south either.... you sort of make my point. The dealers are in a better position to see the market "go south". Why? Because they are the market! They are in the market.

True. Everyone has an opinion. Some opinions are based on experience/facts and some are not. It stands to reason being in South Dakota with a two car inventory -- which has not changed for over a month now -- that you are in less of a position to observe the market accurately.

Mike, we track every car sold in the US...Ferrari are not local sales for us, we have never even sold a Ferrari to anyone in our state..The Franchised dealers are working with a local market, in there own regions...dealer like myself are talking to buyers from all over the country...seeing deals made and answering questions, not from our region and area, in fact none from our area, but all over the US...This gives dealers like myself a unquie looks at the whole market. When you look at the wholesale network, one that is owned by a Ferrari Franchise in CA, and the others...430's are still hot and high demand...I will give you that maybe new cars are not selling...But the action on the wholesale for the 430 has not slowed...

As for only having 2 cars...That is because I am super picky on what I buy since I use my own money to buy them! But we have some big news coming, so you will see the number of cars I carry, go up!

The dealer I spoke with is in California. He didn't say why they canceled. I got the sense these buyers were more concerned with having the "latest and greatest". The hype seems to be around the Scuderia, the new GT, and 430 replacement. The dealer had no problem finding buyers for these slots as his list of buyers is endless. And yes because they canceled they have a zero chance of getting the next new Ferrari.

Now concerning the "softness" in the market about the 430. 575Mike is correct. These dealers are in the market daily. They know when a product is softening. This dealer had a least 20 used Ferraris on the floor. The cars are not moving and the prices were being reduced.

Yes that my be true in there market..all Iam saying is on the 430 Pre-owned for the entire nation is not seeing that (Which I guess is not the point of this thread, since new cars sales may be down)..I will admit this year has been slower then 06, but still steady..having only 2-5 cars at time gives me the opportunity to track the number of cars sold, being offered, and what they have sold for..as I have said in the past..I can not get your name and number, but I can get the tax and lic. information for each car sold in a US...I will give you that new cars may be in a down turn..but I do also know that right now the message in the dealer networks is buy now, the market is soft, ..sell me your car at discount..they may have 50 cars sitting instock..but they will still buy yours if you offered it, and belive what they tell you on how soft your car is now!!

How do I know this? Well everytime I make a post like this other dealers call me, or send me emails asking why I am still paying top $$ for cars,by making post like this!!

Also Jeff, I want to take this opportunity to appolgy to you if my comment about opinions, came out as a insult to you! I always find it strange that dealers say this stuff to the core base of customers...I know that if you put all of dealers into one message board, (which I own) you get so many opinions on what is going on right now, some having the best years of there lifes and others can not sell a tee shirt let alone a car...So once again if that came out wrong I am sorry!

It seems obvious that anyone would question whether they want to buy the last of anything whether it is a 430 or a soon to be obsolete digital camera. I really doubt that anyone who has been on a 430 waiting list for 3-4 years has any chance of getting a 430S ever. These cars are all allocated to the best customers. The people who got their 430 3 or 4 years ago will in all likelihood be the first to get the F142. It is hard for new people to break in so long as the old crowd stays in the game. Anyone who thinks that they can go from the back of the list on a 430 to the head of the list on the 142 is dreaming in technicolour

Maybe the reason the market is softening is because no one want to be associated with the likes of cocky jerks like you find here. Jeeze, lighten up! Give the man from Premier a little respect. Maybe do a little research and you will see he tends to give honest, well informed, and educated posts. You may not agree with him, but you can at least use reasonable etiquette when making your point. You have enjoyed it from others. It is Mothers Day weekend. Use some better manners and make her proud.
