I forgot to add this to my original thread. As of a few weeks ago FNA has told all dealers they no longer can sell new Ferraris for over MSRP. This probably will affect future resale prices and thus the softening in the 430 market. Some dealers were notorious for selling practically every car over MSRP.

FNA is closing the loop holes. The 599 and Scuderia MUST be financed for one year. Buyers for the 612 and 430 are asked to sign the letter about not reselling the car for one year It looks like FNA is trying to stop the flipping of all cars for one year.

So your saying that If I go out and buy a new 599..FNA wants me to say that I will not re-sell the car for one year? But after that one year, I could sell it..and it be over MSRP since there would more that wants the car car then can get the car...

Basically yes. You can do whatever you want with the car after one year. Of course you're back in that Catch 22 if you don't trade it back to the dealer you probably won't get anymore cars.

Thats true...So the franchised dealers would really have to keep there relationships strong, to keep the list buyers coming back, and keep the pre-owned market level. I like the idea...but once again just a first look I could see how the the MSRP would go up and even more by using this sytem...the pre-owned demand would set the market and supply could be down (the new car owners keeping there cars longer, waiting for the new car to come out), so new cars prices would have to go up?

This really doesnt make sense to me. If Ferrari and Ferrari NA are moving all of their cars and making the profit that they want (based off of MSRP) what does it matter if I buy the car and flip it?

I guess I understand wanting to put the cars into the hands of true enthusiasts rather then flippers, but this seems crazy. You HAVE to finance the car, you HAVE to resell to the dealer. Its getting intense. Even if the cars were going to true enthusiasts only, I will still have to work my way into a dealers circle to get a new car. Sheesh.

FCI does a thing where if you buy a used f430, then you get onto the "list" trade in the used one, get a new one. You cannot drive the car more then a couple thousand miles, but then they flip the old one for more the msrp, and you get a brand new car. The cycle continues.

This system will never work for a guy like me who actually drives the car daily.

I don't understand why Ferrari doesn't "adjust" their prices to match demand. They don't seem to have a problem charging a fortune for parts, why don't they apply that to the cars?

    They are-
'08 430 base prices are way up and ceramics are mandatory.(adding 17k) Base price for the scuderia was just raised another $10K due to dollar weakness and is up to 274K.

Okay, I see. I heard that they made the CC brakes mandatory on another model but I didn't know they did that on the 430. I guess they don't want to manipulate the prices too high so it affects sales.
