Welcome here! Fortunately, most of us aren't going to leave it to Sports Car Market to determine where the Miura lies in our hearts Nor are we going to leave it to them to tell us what they are worth either! LOL. Yes this car has been posted and discussed on this thread, but Im sure we dont mind looking at it again. They want $1,150,000 last I checked... I wish they hadn't recovered the seats using non-original red corduroy fabric, and for the love of god will somebody turn that passenger grab-handle round the right way (it would take all of 5 mins!) A genuine late P400SV it is 5048 and was created in yellow and supplied to Fischer Schulze in Germany. Joe www.joesackey.com

'parently none of the miura sold - either guide prices of $400,000 seemed to put off prospective buyers or there is a credit crunch after all or there was no-one at the Monaco sale or the cars werent good enough. My contact tells me the sale did well so it looks like it wasnt for the lack of punters or cash. mbax
The latter methinks... My contact now tells me he saw both cars and tells me that he has seen better - much better! Seems nowadays all cars think they deserve top dollar... I sold an SV 2 weeks ago for almost a mil and a nice P400S just went into another stable for $500,000 - both admittedly very nice cars. However, I am finding that a certain pent-up demand for many of our favorite cars has been somewhat satisfied whilst buyers (who are quite astute & knowledgeable) have become very very discriminating, willing to pass over anything that has stories/issues/modifications in favor of a purer, better car. 4th place, like Sports Car Whatever has a clue. Nice car, looks like someone finally got the grab bar right ROFL! Should still be yellow.
Classic & Sporstcar on the other hand voted the Lamborghini Miura SV number one, with you-name-them iconic Prewar AND Postwar Ferraris, Maseratis, Alfas, Mercedes, Bugattis, Fords et al trailing in its wake... I didn't disagree with their choice, even though they wont always be right for everybody. Joe www.joesackey.com
Not to be too biased because of their local proximity to me, but I think SCI is a pretty good rag. The writing leads me to believe that they are not as swayed by advertisers, so you don't get as many "Golly Gee Willikers this car is grrRRREAT!" like you do with many other US publications. They also frequently do stories on important collector cars, which offers a nice balance to all the new stuff they write about. They did a feature article on Miura 5018 which I re-read from time to time. The "Top Ten" series was done decade by decade, and was voted on by a cast of non-editors - Winston Goodfellow and Peter Brock, among others. I would actually argue that the list was biased towards foreign cars - not that I mind, because my own biases tend to sway this way as well. I think it's safe to say that they know what they are talking about, but perhaps we don't all agree with how they each independently voted.
Agree with the above, but they used to be very out of touch with Lamborghini values, and still are for many models. I give them my business by advertising with them, and with a name like Sports Car Market, they ought to know the market..... Joe www.joesackey.com
I think you are referring to SCM - And yes, they are Anti-Lambo-Alfa-Biased, I'd agree. I'm referring to the magazine Sports Car International. ;^)
Yes, I agree Joe, they ought to know the market, especially the Lamborghini market. SCM has been very anti-lambo (notoriously anti-countach), I think because of Sheehan's involvement. Sadly, I've found that most vintage Ferrari "experts" absolutely hate vintage Lambos. (dont' know about Sheehan, but I've met a number who gag at the mention of a Lambo) But recently, as the vintage Lambo prices rise, SCM has been slowly (I'm sure out of necessity) coming around. This April they actually mentioned the Lambo 350/400GT market when they noted "Sales of Early Lamborghinis Heat Up": >> discusses the recent sale of 400GT 2+2 #1327 for $256,100, "overall a solid example" sidebar mentions how early Lamborghini examples like the 350GT, 400GT and 400GT 2+2 are now rising.<< I guess when it comes to rising prices, they have to notice or they will lose subscribers. Cheers, Fred
I've found that Dave Kinney's price guide is a little more fresh than SCMs. He seems to be within a few months of current with each publication. I'm sure he has his favorites, too, but his guide seems to give a more unbiased view of the marketplace. Kinney is also a much tougher grader of cars than pretty much anyone else I've met. A Kinney "1" is worthy of Pebble Beach, whereas a Richard Hudson-Evans "1" does not appear to carry the same meaning, for example.
4894 again... breathtaking! Interestingly, this car is owned by the boss of a MAJOR Ferrari and F1 Team sponsor Image Unavailable, Please Login
In Las Vegas with RR Drophead and Reventon. By comparing with Reventon and RR, Miura looks so cute. got the picture from www.************* Image Unavailable, Please Login
