I wasn't expecting so much retro styling from the original California.

They have that working pretty well, and it looks like a nice sized car.

The rims are terribly plain, too understated....look like they belong on a Pontiac.

Definitely want to see it in a different color besides boring red.

I agree with you completely in regards to the wheels. They look cheap in my opinion. Besides that I like (but do not love) the look of the new car. It will be interesting to see what the car looks like with the top up.

Its looks heavy, awkward, showy, brash.

If only Ferrari would take some risk and produce a revolutionary elegant beautiful car, without all this bit of GTO, bit of 275, bit of this, bit of that.

The Daytona looked like no Ferrari before, but was instantly recognisable as a Ferrari.

Why are the greats designers of the past not involved; Giorgetto Giugiaro & Leonardo Fioravanti are still in business, and where is the new generation of greats?

These modern Ferrari, though great machines, look like focus group committee designed caricatures.

9 of 10 times a new Ferrari is unveiled, initial reaction is wailing and gnashing of teeth.

i don't hate the styling but i just don't see a market for this car. Why pay 100K more for this over a DB9 volonte??

they should have called it a Dino and priced 50k above the Aston.

That's becuase Fchat started in 2000, and everything Ferrari has introduced since then deserved wailing and gnashing of teeth.

612, Superamerica, 430, 599, Enzo, FXX, California GT.....not a great track record. All cars that eventually 'grow on you', but so does mold....

I agree in that these are not good days for car design (Ferrari or whatever) but reading Ferrarichat I realize that is very difficult to keep everybody happy, and that car enthusiasts usually have contradictory opinions.

For example, the 275, wich is often mentioned as an example of good taste, was a "re-mix" of the 250 GTO and other previous Ferrraris. And the same goes for the 308, 355 and others. Meanwhile I read that many people consider that the Aston Martin DB9 is a very good-looking car, despite it´s an updated version of the DB7 of 15 years ago (and we could say the same thing about all the current Aston Martin line); therefore, many people consider that originality is not an important attribute of a new car design.

Very hard to keep everybody happy, indeed.

this is not a nice looking car. its not sufficiently original. looks like a cop-out for people who are tryignt o choose between a bmw, merc, or aston. not good enough.

I'll reserve final judgement until I've at least seen some decent shots outside a studio, if not seen an actual car. (It certainly made a big difference the first time I saw a 599 in the metal rather than in pictures). However, I am disappointed that it looks like an amalgam of a couple of other manufacturers designs rather than anything uniquely Ferrari. To put it another way, if it didn't have the Cavallinos on it I'd be hard-pressed to identify it as a Ferrari. F430, 599 and 612 whilst not beautiful, in the way of SWB, California, 308, BB 355 etc. are at least hard to mistake for anything other than Ferraris.

looks terrible! i have to say, this is the first time i am motivated enough to actually comment on a new ferrari's looks.

is it really a bad time for car design? i think not. look at the lamborghini LP560, it is gorgeous! surely ferrari can do better.

ive figured it out. ferrari's nowadays (especially this one) lack COHERENCE

    I like it.

Interestingly, I showed the pics to a female coworker of mine who loves Ferrari's. She likes it, but made the comment that it looks like a chick car...
