Is the car down near Indy? #0854 looks great. It would be nice to see a 1966 P3 restored back to original. That would really stand out. I guess your chance was with #0846. Oh well. Tom Tanner/SD
With a Ford 4-cam Indy engine! Some Sprint Car guys used those engines with the heads swapped from left to right and vice versa. That way, the exhaust exited down instead into the vee of the engine. Cool rig, ex-Parnelli Jones maybe? Cheers, Kurt O.
John's shop is in the woods about an hour from Indy. I'm heading out there in a few weeks and will ask him and get some more photo's. We should be pretty close by then. Best
Note red bondo patch where Le Mans Number Light was removed after Le Mans. This is an original repair. Image Unavailable, Please Login
drool. looks just like a vintage aircraft skin with many stories to tell.... or the alloy skin on a vintage race car , wearing the scars and scabs of the the years and tracks. wonderful.
It's really amazing how thin these original bodies are. It's also amazing the history you can see in them. Where the Le Mans # lights were removed and even where the leather tie down straps were mounted when 0854 ran at Le Mans. We removed over 30 lbs. of Bondo from her mostly from nose. She's a bit lumpy but very beautiful. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Jim, I hope you don't mind me asking, but why did the 'Speedbird' stayed through this particular process? It is sticker also, isn't it?
That's excellent! I would've peel it and then re-apply the glorious logo after all is done, but that's because I didn't knew there is this taping technique. Thanks, Jim.
Note original holes and bondo repair where leather belts were added for Le Mans. They were later removed for Brands Hatch. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's only my own opinion, but maybe you should restore the car back to Le Mans configuration, with number 23... And those tail colors...?
sans vouloir emettre la moindre critique envers Napolis, il me semble que l'échancrure des échappements ou est fixer l'attache capot moteur, n'est pas identique
without wanting to issue the slightest criticism of Napolis, it seems to me that exhausts notch or is attached fix the engine bonnet, is not the same
Damn right....i've spent the last year and a half loving and collecting that configuration....don't go changing your mind now Jim
Correct. That panel wasn't original so we remade it and I always make it obvious which panel we remade in the photographic history. Best
Jim, you are a genuine asset to the Ferrari community. Thank you for taking the time to share your projects with us. I find this particular one very interesting.
Gee ... I'm confused. I've studied it for as long as I can at work and can not see the slightest difference ... Again thanks for the update. Pete
