Well I've used every foul word in 6 different languages and still can't get the power steering hydraulic hose broke loose to drop the engine.

Any suggestions short of learning more curse words..lol

    Thanks

    hi Michael

ah yes, you must be working on an F355....and referring to the 22mm PS line (to the right of the rubber line)

unfortunately.... they are all a Mu%#^$ther F%$^%ker to get off.....so you're not alone

    some ideas
    - try vise gripping the 17mm end that disappears into the firewall.....if you're able to secure it with a 17mm open end flare nut wrench than that's good
    - put a 22 open end .....cut off possibly....so you can get a pipe on the end of it (12"-18")....and try that

make sure you got ahold of the 17mm end.....you don't want to twist that

    i've seen this done......that's how i know it's a beeotch

worst case........how about disconnecting the line at the pump.......(goes under the heat exchanger on its way to the pump) and then pulling the engine out.....then you can better deal with the stuck line at the firewall......i know i know......that's alot of work......but it might be your last resort

    just ideas

Excellent, glad I wasn't the only one! That PS line was the worst part of getting the engine out. I never could loosen it at the firewall, didn't want to round it off too bad. I was about to cut it in half...until I saw that a new one was like $400. So resorted to plan B, disconnected at the pump. This was a serious pain too because as posted above I had to snake it through that center section and it isn't all that flexible.

    Good luck!

If you have 22 nut that is difficult (speaking kindly) , there are many o2 sensor wrenches, sockets, crowsfoot etc that might be useful. They are also cheap enough that you can buy several.

    Jay

and if you use vice grips, nobody will know for at least 3 years.

If I remember now the prob was the 17, I couldn't get the flare wrench on it.

And in 3 (well, 5) years I'd know that vice grips were used when I take it out again!

I was thinking about doing that, but way tooooo much fuel vapor and fuel in that area...plus I don't have a small enough torch to get in there, it's really tight.

Those of us who do these frequntly have bent a custom wrench to get the angle correct on the 17mm fitting then it actually comes undone rather easily.

I'm using a GearWrench flex-head 17mm flarenut wrench on the fixed line.........regular 22mm open end wrench on the hose side. I'm going to try a 22mm flarenut crowfoot and a pullbar on the hose side as my next step.

Undone rather easily???????? I may need to go on steriods.....lol
