Heat shield's aside Jim would you indulge me with some Bahrain sand and possibly a few pic's? If not no big deal and I hope I have not overstepped a boundary, I'm just a nut who would appreciate such item's.
Hi Jim. I'm a new subscriber to the forum but an avid Ferrari since childhood... You own 2 of my favorite models the P3/4 (Chassis 0846) - (the 412P for me is a P4) and of course the Pininfarina p4/5. I have a couple of questions concerning the P3/4 (the direct inspiration to your P 4/5): were you ever able to convince Maranello to consider that your car is actually chassis 0846 (Famous because of it's 1967 Daytona win), or this is a still ongoing process? Did you swap the spider body of your 412P with the P3/4 so you can have the latter one looking closely to it's original shaper (which was a spider I think). Last question: are you planning to go to the NA Ferrari reunion in Toronto this July?
Hi The body currently on 0846 uses 0858's original Spyder tail and a NOS Allegretti nose and correct Fiberglass doors all restored to correct 0846 Daytona 1967 specficitions. (No longer 1967 Targa Specifications). A few other items such as the interior have been corrected as well. 0846 except when incorrectly bodied by me as a coupe was always a spyder. Ferrari and I have no problems on anything what so ever and they have never disputed that my car contains the original chassis remains of 0846 nor do I dispute that Ferrari scrapped 0846 after the Le Mans 1967. 0846 has resided for years in my garage on the Ferrari Owners website, clearly listing me as the owner since 2000 which they publish and have total control of the content therein. The legal identity of 0846 has been established and accepted by Ferrari for many years and that legal identity can no longer be challenged by anyone nor can my ownership of 0846. 0846 has passed in and out of Italy and the US through customs with Ferrari's full prior knowledge and may do so anytime I want to. 0846 is what it is. No more. No less. 0854 was never a spyder and is being restored with it's original coupe body. 0854 has it's original chassis/engine/gearbox/body/etc. I cannot make this years FCA event but hope to make next years. That was just in parking areas. The roads were all paved but when you saw a road sign warning about a hazard ahead you did have to take it seriously.
Changed oil, brake fluid, pads, tires, checked everything, and cleaned her up. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Given the area directly around each punch hole had a little pressure applied... If high-temp adhesive won't prevent delamination, perhaps the next set of protectors could benefit from some time under a press. Did you get to reenact the scene from GFII? Don Ciccio: I see you took the name of the town. What was your father's name? Vito Corleone: Antonio Andolini. Don Ciccio: You'll have to speak up. I can't hear you Vito Corleone: My father's name was Antonio Andolini... and this is for you! [cuts him up real good!]
We're trying a shield material that's worked a bit better for us in the past. I'm surprised these failed but many hours of high speed laps at 110 degrees F may have had something to do with it. Surprisingly our trans fluid never overheated and our clutch is still only 33% worn. The gearbox is fine and all tested well. Oil temp never reached the danger zone. We did pull a lot of sand out of the radiators so that's probably why our oil temp. rose. There was no metal in the oil and no leaks at any seals. I think proper warm up is very important for the seals. Best! The whole island is a scene from the GF.
Looks at home there! I'm sure that would have been an interesting drive around Sicily, for you and the locals.
Hey Yes Sal does it. If we had a huge thing to do we'd send her back over to PF with Sal. For some reason the SD2 works better with the Enzo/P 4/5 and we have access to one both here and near PF. Best 2 U and Yours
Hi Jim. It's unfortunate for us Canadians that we won't be able to see your vintage and modern Ferraris for the FCA meet... I believe those are very important cars historically: the P3/4 is one of Ferrari's last important win in endurance racing and the p4/5 represent the return of taylor-made cars and coachbuilding (like in the best days)... Not to say that these must be amongst the most beautiful cars ever... Thank you for the clarification on both 0846 and 0854. I guess one of your next project is to re-convert 0846 to its Spider body? Cheers!
Hi Jim. Talking about the gearbox. I suppose you are using the Enzo as-is hardware. Since then, Ferrari have come up with faster shifting (60 milliseconds) F1 transmission. I believe the Enzo's shifting speed is 150 milliseconds. Is there a software/hardware update that allows the shift speed to be faster and are you planning to install it on the P4/5? Cheers.
I converted 0846 back to a spyder several years ago. As for P 4/5's gearbox the hotter the fluid gets the faster she shifts. Best Image Unavailable, Please Login
Were the original shields normal enzo spec or were they special to P4/5? If there enzo spec has that failure happend on an enzo before? Or was your failure due to your track use? Did you make those up yourself or are they from Ferrari?
