    Hi friends,

If you did not receive an invite from the Ferrari Club, I would like to extend an invitation to visit us this Thursday evening for a glimpse behind the scene of preparing a very rare vintage Ferrari race car for the 2008 Shell Historic Ferrari Challenge. http://www.moorespeed.com/mooresports/news/schedule/250SWBTechSession.html

Please let me know if you plan on attending. I promise you will not want to miss this event, its not every day that one of these cars is out for all to see. We will have a slide show of the build as well as the first two races of the season to go along as well as another race engine for the car on display. I do need a good headcount as food and beverages will be served. So please rsvp today if you can to [email protected]

A fantastic opportunity to examine up close and listen to a car we might otherwise never see in person. A fascinating slide show of the inner workings of an authentic classic Ferrari 250 V12 engine and the car it powers as some real experts built them for racing. And plenty of food and drink and great gents & ladies to share it with. I can't imagine a better way to spend an evening.

Many thanks David. Moorespeed is obviously a class act and I will definitely be returning at every opportunity.

    Michael,

    Nice shots as usual!

    David,

What time??? I have to practice w/ my band on Thursday nights, but I might be able to stick my head in and say hi and meet some of the F-car guys I don't yet know.

    Thanks,
    James

    Great shots, Mike.

I love the one with the 308 and the Honda - makes an Accord look like an SUV. :D

    The comp 250 looks fantastic.

    Off topic, but Mike

I have seen the SuperAmerica with a plate in the front window, and now I noticed the owner of the blue F355 does this as well. I like this alternative instead of having to mount a plate in the front, thus degrading the clean look of a car (IMO). I will consider trying this on my car, but am wondering if doing so is an okay legal alternative. What do you think?

Nice shots, especially the size contrast on the last picture.:)

    Tyler,

I don't know if that is legal or not, but I prefer NO PLATE at all! You have only seen my white car but you have seen pics of the others... No front plates and I have been stopped PLENTY of times and not a single officer has said a WORD about it. Of course I am a bit older than you, so YMMV! ;)

    Best,
    James

Lovely car! I wish I could have made it for the tech session. Seeing a SWB is always something special. I saw the exact same car last year being worked on at Ferrari of Houston. :)

LOL, I see what you mean. I also prefer no front plate at all.

I may go ahead and start a new thread on the topic. I'll wait to see Mike's reply first though.

    Thanks guys!

    Tyler,
I don't know if it's technically legal or not but I know it will appease some officers. I believe that the law simply states that you must have a front and rear plate but I don't know if it says exactly where the front plate has to be mounted. So you may still get a ticket from some officers but if you fight it in traffic court, you may be able to win. During all of the events & drives I've been on, I've never seen a single car get a ticket for no front plate and we've run into a lot of police.

I personally don't like the idea of having a sharp piece of metal inside the cabin with me if it has the possibility of becoming a projectile.

If you need some better photos for that project just let me know and we can shoot it outside. I have a hard time shooting with the light in the shop and I can't stand flashes.

Very well organized event as usual.

That's why I never put the plate inside the car. I bit the bullet and mounted the front plate with zip ties just under the front grill. Sure the car would look nicer w/o the plate but there are couple of over-zealous cops near where I leave. I'd rather not have the hassle of being stopped by them.

thanks Mike. I was able to get some really nice shots outside while at Road Atlanta.

I would like some copies of what you took at the tech session to update our website when you get a chance.
