My bottom rear heatshield is broken. See diagram. Can I remove it and put some kind of heat reflector directly on to the inside of the bumper? The heatshield can't be fixed and i really don't want to pay lots of $$$ for a new or used one. And i don'tw ant to melt the rear bumper either.
I ran into some interesting guys the other day that run the Panamerica Carrera from here in Houston , they make interesting stuff....see if PolyDyn Performance Coatings can do you some good, they at least RECOGNIZED me uniform and asked me about some local players.....
I cant see the diagram, but im assuming your speaking about the one that covers the vent holes in the bumper at rear that attaches to the bumper. I took it off to fit my capristo, as the bracket that holds it on was rubbing against the exhaust. I put some heat proof material directly on the bumper using silicone, no problem at all.
It doesn't get all that toasty back there, but I'd keep it. Somehow make up your own with some thin gauge metal and heat shielding fabric.
Problem is, that teh heat shiled I had repaired came back thicker. Which means it won't clip into the rear bumper at teh bottom and whilst trying, managed to break them. So I'm thinking it's best to remove them. Old and new shileds below. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
