I just confirmed an early position on a California.
Was wondering who else has confirmed to buy one?
I will NOT be trading this is additional.

I live in SoCal and want one too. Dealers here just have interest lists. They don't want to commit until they know the play. So I'm on that list.

I am not trading either. Think it will be a frequent, but not quite daily, driver.

Yep - on the list for an early car, will know more once allocations etc are announced. Not trading - will probably let my wife spec this one :)

I'm in. I put my name in before they had a list... so I'm the first on the interest list = first allocation once they are able to place the order (if the rest of the car is up to my satisfaction.). I will NOT be reselling this car either. I love a bit longer drives through the mountains with the top down.... so this may be an ideal car for me.

    Now the hard part...which color?

Someone who had seen the models in the metal said red was not great and that black and the metallics were better choices for the California.

    I'm thinking red or black.

If any of you saw the original Steve McQueen film " The Thomas Crown Affair" - the scene at the Polo match where Faye Dunaway is sitting in a dark red 275 NART spider. Does anyone know the name of that red?

What do youi think of it? Too dull?

My first thought was the dark red metallic with a tan interior. But, I need to see the interior first. Those wheels have to go! I'm sure they'll have an option for something snazzier.

Same but I confirmed my position quite a while ago. Think the list in Hong Kong is already quite long.

Good question. I am thinking bordeaux interior with grigio silverstone. I have wanted a grigio silverstone car for some time and California might be a good candidate

I usually am not a fan of red interiors but a slightly darker red leather would be spectacular with grigio siverstone.
Would the dash top match or contrast in black?

Ya know, I look at these photos of the 275 and then I think about all those who said the California GT looks like a chick car. Was the 275 a chick car? No freaking way. I still want to see the car in person but people too often forget about elegance and nuance in favor "in your face" boldness when it comes to sports car styling.

Maybe it's the "gotta have it NOW"/instant gratification mentality of today's world that drives this.

It's like trying to decide which movie is better: "Transformers" vs "Citizen Kane". To me Transformers was a ridiculous over the top disaster of a plot wrapped up in endless blurrying CGI effects with pounding sounds efx from every angle. But, a lot of people went to see it so obviously, I'm in the minority.

I'm not saying the California is as good or better than the 275. But, when you look at a 275, you see something aggressive and beautiful without being "over the top". From what I see, there is something in the California that reminds me of that simpler, more elegant car design era without going complete "retro" (aka Ford Mustang or GT).

But those wheels have still got to go!

I have a 612 HGTS in that exact combo. Couldn't be happier with my choice. IMO the Grigio Silverstone is perfect for a grand tourer but not convinced it would work on the California. I'm thinking of a dark red or even black.

Ferrari's are a natural step up for 997tt owners
Now with increased availability you will see a few 997tt's traded in.
Does not mean that the 997tt is a bad car just that "some" owners upgrade.

997tt cabs. w/ PDK and a few options will be hitting the upper $100k range shortly. Though the Turbos provide exceptional performance, they will never be able to compete with the Ferrari experience. Putting the top down on the Cali and listening to that exhaust on a sunny back road will trump the same drive in the Turbo. You'd only use 5/10 of the cars anyway... and unless you're at 10/10 on both, they're the same (differentiation at 10/10, because the Turbos' 10/10's are undoubtedly higher than the 149). For the money, it's the Ferrari hands down.

I think the California is an awesome interpretation of the road-going Ferrari of old.
