Countach project for sale on eBay

OMG this is bull****

First I don’t give a hoot about the seller and his lack of personal ability to take good pictures for the thousands of tire kickers and critics who look at ebay for the car of their dreams but have no intensions of buying but will always criticize shame on him for not getting you better pictures.




Guys like you and your BS about how difficult it is to work on one of these motors I wonder how many here have even gotten their hands dirty working on a engine let alone on the mystical Lamborghini engine it is a overhead camshaft V-12! It is not that complicated, Lets not even get into the fact that it will need a new clutch oh no just burn that car.

The only person I'll ever believe in this forum is 2NA everyone else is an arm chair mechanic scared to fix anything scared to take on any kind of project scared to take a chance to learn to make mistakes at least he doesnt flat out tell you your smoking crack he just says what I tell people about project cars there is always something that will come up and bite your ass and cost you. Know what your getting into and whatever you budget once your done doing your math times it by 2 at least.




But the only thing I ever so on this forum is Oh no the scary Lamborghini motor it can only he worked on by the gods and no mere mortal could ever fix it.


I would LOVE to see where all these Countach's in need of motor work are sitting please for the love of god let me know..

Gee golly whiz Phrogs, tell us how you really feel.

He's just trying to tell you that older Italian motors from boutique marques *may* be designed and built with less logical engineering, less rigorous research-and-development, less manufacturing planning, less quality control, and a little more custom-crafted passion than other motors. All these can add up to considerably less than straightforward work for the DIY serviceman several decades down the road.

However, as a fellow DIY'er I agree with you wholeheartedly that a motor IS a motor, and that you should first know what you're getting into so that the crazy things you learn along the way aren't as much of a $$$ shock.


I greatly look forward to your future post about hauling a dusty Countach carcass out of a barn and lugging the basket of parts home to your garage.

Hey what can I say I grew up In Kalamazoo?

And I can not wait to find me a dusty countach I had one in my hands but the gent who informed me that he knew of one and said he would try to find it started looking for the car and next thing you know he bought the car, Im sure you read the not another barn find thread?


I do have a clue about what I do with cars I mean when I say im a machinist I know what it is to rebuild a motor I have researched parts for old Countach’s before I started this journey and a lot of parts are still available and I couldn’t believe it really!

I just want to add a Countach to my garage and I'm sick of the BS surrounding these old Lamborghinis, It is just like cam belts on Ferraris it’s not that hard to do but the majority freaks out about the job.


It takes some reading and research and some questions but every car will have a new owner asking questions and a restoration is no different, I have received a lot of info from the forums I just can’t stand negative responses about a project car. Hell almost every vintage car that is seen domestic or Euro has been restored, not to many of them are in original condition and if they are they are the car that brings the big bucks, I love to restore a car it is fun helps me relax and deal with stress and I learn about the cars I dreamed of when I was a kid I can now own them and have fun with them.

I am also not afraid to make a mistake where as a lot of people do not tread in those waters!

By the pictures i would agree. May be looking at the car in person shows otherwise. The seller is an honest person but is not know for putting things he sells in their best light so their may be "goodies" not even shown in the add but included in his ask price.
Would be interesting to know the continuing story from the buyer himself.

In a few years when Countach values go like Miuras do now, we'll all be moaning about how we could've scooped up that one for a piddly $70k...

 

I am still waiting on word on all these countach that need engine work and where they are located and contact info for owners so I can take them off their hands.

please guys tell me...

I don't know why people are so shocked or don't believe the car sold for $70k. A Ferrari basket case of a desirable model will typically bring 60-70% of the price of a mint one. Just because it doesn't make immediate financial sense doesn't mean it's not reality. Most of these cars are bought by people who can't stretch to get a good one and think they can fix it up themselves and save a bunch of money. If you can do all disassembly/assembly/tuning yourself, maybe you can. If you plan to do a checkbook restoration, you will be upside down. You can also spread the cost out over years. If you bought a basket case Lusso for $70k-$80k 5 yrs ago when a perfect one sold for $125k, and held onto it until now, you could easily pay someone to restore it and still come out mucho $$$ ahead. Believe me, I wish I had not listened to these "experts" when I was offered a running PF coupe for $35k five years ago. "Don't do it, you'll never get your money out of it." Bah!
