Private party, I will ask about the miles. I know the car was in Midland Texas so I would imagine it wasn't "Dealer maintained" and
that probably scared the discriminating buyer..

Good point, thats why something like 80% of cars are financed to people who cant afford them..

IMO: Once the LP560 is on the market for a year there will be tons of 04-05 G's for under $100k. So in summer of 2009

It's the people who can't afford the Lambo's or the marginal owners that have probably saved Lamborghini. If it was up to the pure enthusiast's, company would have no hope. Now it's going to be the same class that is going to put a major hurtin on the company due to gas prices.

Interesting, although "afford" is a very subjective concept. Some may say a person cannot "afford" a car unless they have at least five times the value in liquid assets. Others may say a person can "afford" a car as long as no minimum payments are missed.

Do you have a source for the 80% stat?

Is true, 80% are leased to the inquisitive I want a taste buyer. Cheap financing along with the housing boom is what has propelled Lamborghini the last few years. Most people can't afford what they buy, that's certainly no surprise.

I can tell you for fact that this is not true...Over the last 2 years I have financed many customers and the banks I work with require 2 years tax returns, income statements, 25% down as well as good credit score with debt-to-income no more then 12%...The people that are financing are doing it not because they can not afford it, but rather out of pocket is less...there is no such thing as stated income in dealer financing...if you could not afford the car the banks would deny the loan..happens all the time!

Now I will say that there is a middel ground there based on income and credit score, along with number of $100k cars owned in the past...but these are few and far between...In some cases unless you have had an exotic car or 2 in the past we could not get you apporved...or it was tuffer!

I heard sometimes the dealers misspelled info on the loan application and then it was not APPORVED. That made it TUFFER to get the car sold!

Sorry Chris, I could not resist!

Don't worry Mikes wrong..Since we keep messing with daylight savings time, the earth will have already exploded by the summer of 2009! :)

Not a chance, in fact I could not in my state...besides if I did that would be between the buyer and the seller, and how they choose to buy the car under what and how the laws in my state say I can!

This debate will never end. When guys spend a lot they are worried about losing a lot.

In this market it is going to happen. Don't buy the car if thats your concern. These are not investment instruments.

One of the exotic dealers in my state told me one time a guy drove all the way from Texas with a rented trailer and 29 credit cards, whose limits all added together were just enough to cover the sticker price of a particular brand new Aston Ferlamborati (can't remember what brand he was after) that the dealer had in stock and was just what he'd always wanted. His faith was touching, but he headed back to Texas later that day with an empty trailer and 29 intact credit cards.

heehee ... no, imagine using that long drive back to Texas to make 29 toll-free calls, claiming some identity thief just stole your cards and please reverse all charges, and then imagine driving your free car off the trailer. I'll let you know how it works out.

I was wondering how the title would be processed in that example...not like it can be cut up into 29 pieces and sent to each company, LOL.
But I forgot about the 'scam factor'!
