A call center in India has gotten a hold of my number. Is there anyway to block calls on an iPhone? The calls come in as UNKNOWN with no number but I can figure out how to block them or establish no ring. Thanks.

I don´t have any specific knowledge of the iPhone, but I don´t think you can block a specific "unknownnumber". And if you are muting the ringtone, it will not ring for any number.
You could probably set up a list of accepted calls (under settings or callsettings), but in that case it will only ring when one of those numbers are calling you, and will be muted when another number is calling..

3 more calls this morning. There is no way to set a seperate ring tone for a blocked or unknown number because there is no number to configure. Having worked a fair amount will call directors it's making me crazy that I can't block or screen some of these annoying solicitations to my del.

    Hi,

I may be missing something, but I can't see a way to block *any* numbers - I thought if you could enter a # to block that it might accept a number of "unknown" (as it displays on the incoming call) - OK, *all* unknown #'s would then be blocked, but that would be OK to me - If you don't want me to know your # then get lost!......

But, I certainly can't see a way to do it. Sorry.

    Cheers,
    Ian

accept the call, and pretend to be very interested in whatever they are saying/selling. at some point, tell them that they got through to you this time just by luck, and ask to update your profile with a "better" phone number to contact you at. give them a fake number.

or, waste an hour of their time on the phone each time, without ordering anything. see how long they waste their time on you. shouldn't be long.

or, accept the call and take all their details and then tell them that it will cost them $5000 each time you get a call from them now that you have asked them not to call you. only do this at the end, after you have expressed an interest and gotten all their details.

or, stop taking unknown calls for a couple of weeks.

Sounds good but it doesn't really work.

Think India call center. They can waste more time on the phone than I can and don't respond to updating a database.

They will not give any detail and laugh at fining them. Send a bill to whom in Delhi? I've repeatedly asked for their number.

I can stop taking the calls but the phone still rings and I have leave it on as there are numbers I do need to respond too.

Exasperating that I can't simply configure blocked calls to not ring.

    4 calls yesterday.

Been there done that. You're still interupted to answer the phone and calls continue. These guys work for about $1/day and are relentless.

I believe you can get AT&T to block their number if you ask them to. The call center obviously has a number and i believe AT&T know it for billing reasons, it just doesn't show up on your phone since they've blocked caller ID
