i would be delighted if you were proved right! sounds like one hell of an automotive recipe. though 800 bhp does sound a little insane for a road car, could it be that the likes of the veyron have pushed other manufacturers to create huge amounts of power to compete?

F have stated that they are not going down that route. They will focus on a lighter more nimble car. Thank goodness.

Maybe my new FXX Evo engine will be a 2.8L V8 TT running on E85!!

Why would you be sad with a V12? While agreeing that the F50 and Enzo are too big going smaller does not automatically eliminate a V12 - capacity of course being independent of cylinders. A 3 litre V12 and 1,000kg sounds good to me :)

I don't follow - why would a TT have better emission results than a NA engine? The only efficient turbo engines I know of are diesels which run in a very tight rev range - AFAIK all low emission automotive engines currently available are NA.

    +1 - absolutely!

On further reflection what you say makes sense, FXX Evo engine is already developed and ready to go thanks to you guys. BUT no way it can be E85 is there? I agree with Napolis that V8TT is the only way to make E85 and that is why I ruled out FXX Evo V12

Italia Speed is a great site for Itlaian car news, but in no way is their "future cars" section worth giving credit to. They know as much as we do.

have there been any spy shots or anything like that... i know most manufacturers start designing and testing 5 years before production. one would assume ferrari would have a fair idea what their next supercar will be by now. once a few people know it doesnt take long for a few leeked bits of info to get out. since there really isnt much anywhere, i would hazzard a guess they would be in EARLY stages of development, which makes me estimate at least 2011. there hasnt really been any consistancy to the timing of the "super cars" 288gto/f40/f50/enzo. i think we will have to wait till there is a test mule spotted, then wait 1-2 years.

I have it from a very good source that the FXX program is some sort of test bed for different components in the next "Super" Ferrari. This would make very nice sense as Ferrari clearly want to be the best in the business as well as the best in business. Not a bad idea giving 30 people a chance to unknowingly test out different things and pay YOU $1.2M.

But the bottom line is that nobody knows a thing about this car. "Word on the street" is so shaky it makes an Irish man look sober, although it was reported -can't remember who exactly said it- that an official at Ferrari said something to the very close effect of "we've never named a car after a driver before..."

All interesting stuff, although I would imagine the next year to be filled with a few more peeks and clues.

i think it should stay that way... i would hate to see a Ferrari Schumacher ect... is just doesnt sound right. id rather locations, like Modena, Maranello, Monza, MMM
is mondial a place? they sure like M. but that said, they have named cars after people though (indirectly) Scaglietti, Pininfarina

Just to point out, we're not unknowingly testing these things - the FXX Programme always has been a test and development programme. A lot of the drivers in the programme are ex-racers (Le Mans, etc) and so offer very significant input and feedback.

Well that would suspect me to believe this car will be a V12 but people keep claiming its going to be a twin turbo V8.

It was said in the FXX press release that the FXX would serve as a test bed for the future super Ferrari...

Thus the direct flow of technology from racing to most road-going vehicles. Can't wait to see your car in person Rick, you need to come to the east-coast US sometime, but Homestead is a bit too far for me. :)

Pardon me if I wasn’t the only person not to read the FXX Press Release. Some of us don't wake up to a Ferrari every morning. How is Daddy's Enzo anyway?

I think that was the point of the program from the very beginning. The purpose of the FXX was to get customer feedback on how to improve the future cars (including super cars). It was stated many times from many different sources. Not just the press release.

Does anyone know or have any information on the next Ferrari Supercar featured in Car & Driver (I think it was Car & Driver), due 2010? They refer to it as the Ferrari Millechili in the magazine for lack of a better name I suppose...

Well their concept for it was basically a smaller, lighter Enzo. Obviously the actual car will look a lot different (I think), but it's meant to be a departure from the high-curb-weight, v-12 supercars now being built. I think it's supposed to be about 2/3 the weight of an Enzo and use a V-8. Lighter, more pure sports car, sort of a throwback to the days when they weren't so huge and weighed down, and more environmentally friendly.

This pics were taken (by a member of supercarfrance.com) a few weeks ago on a trip at Maranello and while the "breadvan" California was testing.

I know, you will think this is a "normal" FXX or the Evolution version of the FXX but why is Ferrari testing this car on the road. Every Fxx and also the upgrades are deliverd. And normaly Ferrari test there FXX's on the Fiorano testtrack with the clients.
The test program was 2 years and started in 2005; so... Ferrari always told us that they run the FXX-program to get the best information for their new cars.
I think this could be the first "basic" mule for the new supercar. I' ve been many times in Maranello and the car on the pics leave the back entrance where mostly the mules leave the factory.

I am not sure why they would be putting this car on the road but most of the camo in this case is for paint protection, not to cover up any new changes. But very interesting why an FXX would be out on the road!
