Undisclosed damage IIRC. They even took pictures off their ad and lowered the price after the last thread here.

The carfax report shows an accident in NY in 2004, the seller claims only light paintwork on the right front fender, also claims that the seats were custom ordered as they are.

I've also looked at this car as the price seems very attractive and the color combination is unique. But thanks to the eagle-eyed F-chatters a potential dog has been revealed...

however what worries me is not so much that the car was crashed, but that the seller tries so hard to hide the fact. Many cars have accidents, and as long as they are repaired professionally there's nothing to worry about. And if the accident was bad enough, there's always the "salvage title" looming somewhere in the car's history.

So, why try so hard to hide the facts? Now I would never buy from this seller. I'd trust a lot more a seller that wrote in big letters "accident damage repaired by XXX authorised Ferrari bodywork shop of ZZZ...". The fact that they are trying to hide it suggests to me that the work was done by some backyard cowboy, and they know it. If it was a proper job, I challenge them to demonstrate it. They'll also find that the car will sell more easily if they are upfront with their customers.

Actually if they hold out long enough a naive buyer will come along and trust the seller and buy the car. Or a more computer illiterate person who doesn't know what carfax is will come along. Face it, nobody will spend $100+k on their dream car knowing it's been wrecked, they'll spend an extra $10-15k to get a no story car.

There is a reason they are still in business.

It depends what the "wreck" was. As I said, if a dealer is totally honest and shows me pictures of the accident damage and shows me receipts for the rebuild, I can judge for myself whether the damage was too much for the asking price.

You know, a bent front fender and a broken front bumper are hardly going to cause permanent damage to the structure, and it wouldn't matter at all to me, but I need to know the score. I agree that I would never buy an "accident damaged" car without knowing anything about what happened to it.

PS - In Switzerland I once visited a dealer about an F355, and he proudly showed me pictures of a totally wrecked Diablo SV that they were having rebuilt... they had about 200 pictures documenting every step of the rebuild, and they were proud of the special iridescent orange paintwork that an authorized Lambo bodyshop had applied flawlessly to the restored car. The structure was checked on a jig and repaired by Lamborghini professionally. This dealer was selling it at a good price and they were totally, utterly honest in showing potential customers what had previously happened to it. I didn't buy it myself, but it was sold within a couple of weeks. Honesty (sometimes) pays.

I spoke to the Jaguar dealer who wholesaled it to these assclowns at auction in November of 07 for $115k. He said there was no secret about the history of this car.
