Am looking at buying this 355 in CA, Does anyone have any other info on this 355?? the vin number is ZFFXR41A2V0106607 Thanks for all your help guys!!!
Just a suggestion: You may want to add more info to your post (ie, the ad, the city, etc). If someone has seen the car I doubt they would be able to identify just from a VIN.
No sorry I do not have a link, Found this guy in California. Its a 97 355 with 42K miles on it the Manifolds were replaced along with both cats, The 30K service was done at 32,000 miles, He states a 5k Service was done at 34747, He is faxing me the service records. Do i still have to have major engine out service? What would be a fair price for this car? Any thought?
The mileage is considered high. You can get a car with 20k on the clock for under 70k. You can adjust down from there. Regarding a 5k service I assume he means fluids. So the engine out is still to be done every 5 years or 30k. Obviously people hit the time interval before they hit the mileage interval.
knowing the miles are cosidered high at 42K miles and that it is due for a engine out service. What would be a fair price for a car with this miles and service due??? What should my engine out service run on average?? Any thought guys on this car??
Yes http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Ferrari-1997-Ferrari-355-Berlinetta-30k-Done-TUBI_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ6212QQihZ006QQitemZ160243774326
$50k probably is the right price, but damn, that is a hell of a lot of car for $50k! Think of what it would have cost just 2 years ago. Buy it!
$50K would be a screaming deal! At the BIN price it is still an excellent deal IMHO. Spend $5-7k on a big service and you are in a great car for under $60k. The title says 1997, but the text says it is a 1995. No big deal to me, but just thought I'd thrwo it out there. BT
LOL, so true. In the SF Bay Area we pay more for housing, gas, etc. and now more than Southern Cal for a 30L. A friend of mine shipped his 355 from SF to So cal for his service and still came out ahead.
I agree with your math. The only rule I apply when running the numbers is realistic or worse case scenario: 5-7K on the service, 2.5K for cats, 4k for headers. Now you are in it for 63.5K for a car with high mileage. Before the weather changed I saw 20K mileage cars with everything done for 69K. Suddenly it does not seem like such a great deal.
Heck, I would have thought this car was worth much more than the bid price - maybe in the mid/high $50's. A major can be had for less money. There are some exhaust replacement options that are more affordable. Seriously, it looks like a decent car if it passes everything else. The major is an issue, but you can price for this. I notice the ad doesn't really specify dates as much as mileage for service history. They should know that it's not the miles that matter in these cars as much as the time intervals between maintenance.
The headers and cats have already been replaced (according to the ad). I think it is a good deal. Here is the text from the Ebay ad: "This auction is for a immaculate very clean 1995 355 B that we just took back in on trade today. We sold this 355 to one of our local Ferrari customers over 4 years ago and has been garage kept since. It is a no story 355, the car has been very well maintained and has had all the services performed at the franchized Ferrari dealership. The 15k was done at 14787 and at 16653 the right side catalytic converter was replaced, at 19568 the exhaust mainfolds were replaced, at 28052 the 30k was done the water pump was also replaced at this time, 32,000 the 5k service was performed at 34747 the other catalytic converter was replaced and 35714 the car was serviced again and this was in 2003. Then the car was serviced by us from this point on at our dealership. This 355 drives excellent there are no warning lights on in the dash, the ac blows cold, clutch is good, tires are like new and a matchin set, the dash is great with no dryness or shrinking the seats are soft and the stereo has been upgraded with some very nice speakers and a JL audio amplifier. The car is %100 original with the exception of the factory challenge grill that was added along with the TUBI exhaust. Car comes with all books, records and tools. If you are looking for a great 355 at a excellent price this is the one. We welcome all presale inspections and questions. Thank you and happy bidding!!!!!!!!!! " BT
