Emilio, are you convinced now? This definitively is an LP400. The interior picture recently posted by posteriore140 proves that. Furthermore it is stated in Sport Auto, issue 7/1981 that this car started life as an LP400.
on the right side of the dashboard there are some red letters. They say "lais power". This was the name of the garage of Mr. Walter Lais who later became a Ferrari dealer. When I was a boy, he sent a LP5000S and a Silhouette sales brochure to me. Very kind man.
MP's beauty! i loved the car in original color with gold wheels, still it does look good in this new livery
Okay, question? It appears that the factory converted 4 CT's to Wolf spec - 2 with the suspension, 2 without. I remember reading an article by Mel Nicols as a young bloke concerning a red CT which was the factory S1 development mule - tan interior, Blaupunkt Berlin stereo, no wing, bravos, Wolf style flares, no front spoiler, flag mirrors - apparently very quick: any idea which chassis this is and where is it now?? John
Hallo, can you remember the name of the magazine to have the article?Years?and maybe numebr of magazine?thank's
Out here it was Sports Car World about the end of 1977 - I think it was a re-print from an earlier Car magazine article..
John: As Emilio mentioned, it is the JANUARY 1978 issue of England's CAR magazine. Clearly, this Countach had a "hot" motor. Nichols calculated that with this car's gearing of 25.8 mph per 1000 rpm (as compared to the standard car's 23 mph/1000), that they had seen a true 194 mph that day with a little more to come he thought. This was a parallel-linked suspension car, the factory's own 'Muletta' built up from a standard LP400. Nichols visited the factory in the fall of 1977. Quick, but not the quickest. Wolf told me personally that he had Dallara Automobili/Cosworth Engineering build a 480bhp engine for them and he saw in excess of 200 mph with that unit. The works did a similar unit for Sheldon Brooks and it too was Autostrada timed at over 200 true. Just how reliable these units were I have no idea... JS
Something tells me that was before the bumpers went on. BUT, I don't doubt the terminal velocity numbers, I just doubt the reliability of those motors.... as you'll note, the standard S1/LP400 motors are significantly detuned...
Emilio Ebay where?? I have the Sports Car World issue somewhere but I am sure that the Car issue would have been more in depth.. John
