Had Tim Stanford do a major service for me on the 328. In addition to the usual--belts, seals, bearings, plugs, wires, etc he did a few extras. Replaced all the old hoses, it was definitely time! He also did a nice engine detail and powdercoated the plenum and throttle body. Driving the car home it felt and sounded like a new machine!

It was pretty neat photographing the car while in for the service. Here are a few pics in case you want to see what a car looks like while in for a 30,000.

I originally sent the car in, had it flatbedded actually, because it died on me. It turned out to be a bad relay. The bad relay was the "Relay for Key Controlled Services" in the owner's manual, a Bosch 0 332 014 113. The car wouldn't start, gauges wouldn't work and the windows wouldn't either. Tim told me this a pretty unusual problem, it took him about an hour to track it down. With the new relay, all is fixed of course but I wanted to note here the dramatic improvement in window speed with the new part.

I have a window accelerator on the passenger side, it helped somewhat, but that window was definitely slower than the driver side. With the new relay they operate at the same speed.

I'm considering ordering a complete set of relays and replacing all of them.

Looks great. I had Tim do my major 2 years ago, he does great work. Also had him powdercoat my plenum, two years and almost 13,000 miles later it still looks new. On mine the throttle body is painted a darker gray, I did not specify any specific color, just asked him to repaint it, and thats the way it came back. I like the different color contrast to the plenum body. I did my own detailing on the engine, and its amazing how similar they look. Enjoy the ride.

It drives like a CHAMP now! Very strong. I am very happy with the service after putting about 50 miles on her this weekend. It really made a difference in the seat of the pants.

Forgot to mention he pulled the fuel injectors and sent them to a Bosch shop to be cleaned.

How much for the major, if you don't mind me asking? I live in Winter Haven, FL and I need to have a major soon. I'm also interested in the cosmetic engine work. What did he charge you for that? Thanks, looks great.
