Has anybody elses intake hose from the side vent to the air filter intake disintegrated? If so. What did you use to replace it? Since they are unobtainable.

Remove it and peel away all the foam that is falling apart, you end up with a tube of mesh screen.

Go to Home Depot, find a roll of 1/4 inch thick 1.5 inch wide insulating tape (at the duct tape, hoses section)
Wrap the wire tube in this tape, and then

1, Cover it with grey or black duct tape. or
    2. Get a 4 inch diameter heat shrink tubing and heat shrinik it

Not perfect, not original, but what else are you gonna do ? It is no longer available.

I used a No-Hub rubber boot that you can buy at Home Depot or Lowes, I believe its either 5 or 6 inch. No-Hub band is used to connect Copper to Plastic pipe or cast iron. Good luck!

It is a 4 inch(nominal) no-hub, or calder coupling, a poop pipe connector to us guys in the building trades. As someone else observed, it is best not to tighten it up overly tight, as it is less flexible than the original and might stress the air intake pipe or the air cleaner. Far from original but cheap, readily available and it does the job

I just so happen to be working on it today and took a pic behind the rear wheel mud flap, so you can see what it looks like underneath. See attached pics.

And Chris is correct....its 4" to 4" No-Hub connector. Their like $8.00 bucks at Lowes.

Thanks. But I think we are talking about 2 different parts. The part I think your describing (Part number 114019) is readily available though T-Rutlands. Im speaking of the hose that goes to that from the side car vent. That part is not available.

I am currently looking for the exact same part for my car.
Right now i have duct tape wrapped around the original foam/rubber hose that has just about completely fallen apart. The duct tape looks like crap however it is a temporary fix.

As others have mentioned i will be going to home depot or Lowes to find some sort of flexible rubber hose or covering to go over the wire mesh.

I"ll let you know how it works out.

Some of you are confusing the part I need with a part thats readily available at T-Rutlands. I have that piece. I need the piece that connects to it.

Call Doug Axt at Specialized. He has two 328's in stock and will more than likely have the part you are looking for. Their number is 916-638-5111. He is local for me and I recently purchased some used spark plug extenders from him. Their website is www.specializedpartsplanet.com

    Thanks,
But I already called him and bought some stuff from him. He said both of the hoses he has have holes in them. He said they were no good.

Two years later and this thread is still useful. Just replaced the perished air intake hose with the 4"x4" no-hub. From Menard's, $6.38. I note that Ricambi lists the actual part for about $130. I will be sure not to enter my Mondial in any Concours.

Just replaced the rotted Air Intake on my 88 Mondial 3.2. Perfect fit but had to use the new clamps as the old ones would not expand far enough. Not a big deal to me though. Thanks for the tip.

Gotta love spending $9 at a hardware store for a ~$130 Ferrari part.

The hardware store part came with hose clamps. Expand them out all the way, and lube inner mating surface with small amount of motor oil.

    Works great.

There are various different versions of this hose. On my car it was p/n 136008 (stamped on the hose) which is the part listed in the parts book for a late 328. (oil cooler hose is the same part).
This has a foam sleeve over it. If its only the foam that needs replacing, I found a length of foam pipe insulation 108mm x 13mm wall was exactly the same size as the original foam.

Does this foam tube work well for you? Can you please share a pic of the foam fitted on the stock air hose?

    Thanks.

It looks exactly the same as the original. In fact I have it on the "to do" list to re-do this foam as I have plenty of spare, and cut it longer so I can trim the end after fitting.
In fact the other type of foam-covered late type of hose which has plastic "shoulders" covering the ends of the foam looks neater but thats not the type my car has.

According to the parts book, the original no-foam duct (p/n 114019, in stock) was used until car no 78068, then the foam type 136008 was used. The other foam type with the shoulders (133152) was used on cars for certain countries during the whole time. Here in the UK it seems random whether they used 136008 or 133152, probably depended on who was on shift at the time!

You need to decide WHY you want to replace the foam which was used on the 89 328. If you are interested in concours, then I guess there is no choice. If you are interested only in the function of the hose to move air from the intake to the air cleaner, then any hose of the proper diameter is fine though the less corrugated, the better. The foam was used by Ferrari in the US for the 89 model to achieve the US-mandated 3dB reduction in engine noise for that year. That was the ONLY purpose for the foam. The previous years' intake plumbing is actually a better design in every way as far as the engine is concerned - with much smoother ducting. Other countries may have had the dB reduction requirement earlier than the US - I have no idea re that.

SO unless you need the original for concours purposes, use some sort of generic black hose/flexible tubing.
