    EcoGeeks get all the girls

Just in case you needed another reason to care about the environment: It turns out girls dig guys who dig environmental technology.

According to a study conducted by GM as part of this year's Challenge X competition:

Nearly 9 in 10 women (88 percent) say they'd rather chat up someone who owns the latest fuel-efficient car versus the latest sports car.
Eighty percent of American car buyers would find someone with the latest fuel-efficient car more interesting to talk to at a party than someone with the latest sports car.
More than 4 out of 10 (45 percent) 18- to 43-year-olds say it's a fashion faux pas nowadays to have a car that's not green or environmentally friendly.
Little did we know we've been fashionable all along! (OK, maybe not me - I'm still tooling around in my old Sentra.) No one seems to have told 80 percent of America that it's actually greener to keep driving your current car than to invest in buying a new one.

Nonetheless, this study is good news. And when I buy my first new car (never!), I'll be sure to let everyone know how green it is.

GM's Challenge X is a yearly competition among college students to make GM vehicles more efficient. This year's competition had students from 17 universities "re-engineering" Chevy's Equinox to make it more efficient and reduce its greenhouse impact, while retaining consumer appeal.

Solutions the students put together included using alternative propulsion systems like fuel cells and hybrid technologies, and using alternative fuels like biodiesel and ethanol.

This year's winners are from Mississippi State. They increased the fuel economy of the Equinox by almost 40 percent with a hybrid-electric biodiesel engine.

    That's hot.

Purchase Sports Car; on the cheap
Purchase license plate frame; My other car gets 100 MPG
Lie to potential suitors; "It's in the shop, and may be for months, even years, as we're trying to get it to 200 MPG. [pause] No, I can't tell you where the shop is... but, I can tell you, I am going to give you the ride of your life..."

Isn't this the company that also tells you "Wider is Better"?

Yep, anyone trying to park in the city can tell you how much better a big butt SUV is than something small and maneuverable.

It's been my experience that you can get the younger generation in america to parrot any phrase you put in front of them.
With the schooling we give them, it's not like they're expected to think.

But I'll still take the car that can drive around the wreckage.

    Who wants an 'average' SO?

Frankly, most ladies have -always- hated sports cars, this just gives them another excuse. The honest truth is that they're jealous of something that takes time and money away from them.

If anyone believes this study their nits. Sure she'll chat up the "green"
guy at the party, but when it's time to leave, and the Bently or
Ferrari is outside....9 out of 10 you know what car she's in. Unless
of course your'e a total jerk.

It's always been about "the green" with women. Just look at the women Donald Trump and Bruce Wasserstein are photographed with and tell me it ain't about the green.

Statistics have been shown to be hazardous to your health.

The best way to beat this eco bovine schatology is to have a hydrogen cell powered testarossa. That way, you get
    all the chics.

Ever heard a fuel cell at full throttle? You won't get lucky with that ...

    Point taken....

I wonder if you 'could' hear a fuel cell at full throttle. Besides.....it would be criminal to butcher a testarossa,
probably want ever see flat twelves produced again ever from this point on.

I jammed two pro-skater chicks into the 308GTB last Sunday, with gear bags....

While we discussed several important social issues, I don't recall gas mileage being one of them, as we screamed up and down Allen Parkway into Downtown....

They took the last of my Modelo 12 pack, too, I HOPE they were old enough.......LOL!

It's a pretty well known fact that most women could give a rat's azz about sports cars, so I cannot understand why anyone would 1) buy a car to impress girls, or 2) not realize this.

If you want girls to fawn over your car, you need to buy and drive one of the following:

    Mini Cooper
    VW Cabrio
    Miata
    Saturn Sky

Lots and lots of women will tell you they feel you're probably an azzhole or compensating for something by owning an expensive sports car. Buy the car for you. Not them. That way their opinions won't bother you.
