Aussie ferrari owners beware

Not to be confused with BLACK STALLION MOTORS in ringwood- whom i know personally. Tim and Dennis there run a fantastic shop and are a pleasure to deal with and you and your car are always taken care of.
There is however an unscrupulous trader who has tried to rip their name off and cash in on their already existing good name- They call themselves BLACK STALLION PRESTIGE in North melbourne: These guys are charlatans who are not fit to touch anything with a black horse on it..

I am the owner of a 355 and i have been through a trumendous amount of stress and worrying at the hands of these guys and want to warn everyone else so no one else goes through the same process...

My car was taken there for a Major service and mechanical repairs...
During this time the car was damaged- basically the door was hyperextended and crunched into the front quarter panel.
Furthermore they scratched the interior of the car around the door trim. My car looked like **** when i turned up. Furthermore they put undertrays in the passenger seat and they scratched the seat leather!!! UNf...believable!!!
I was not told this at all...untill i turned up there ( i basically work interstate for long periods) and then had a fit.
They said they didnt know how it happened but were willing to contribute to fix the problem.
I wanted to pull the car staright away but it was a Saturday and i was flying out the next day and i couldnt get the car in anywhere else and i also needed to get the car ready for a wedding so i was stuck...

Ok fair enough..**** happens theyre willing to fix their mistake-as long as its fixed i dont care

Then when they were given the bill of repair basically $4,500 they said they werent going through insurance because they didnt want to pay the $1000 excess!!!!! They told me that they had the car quoted at $1000 and that i was getting ripped of by going to one of the best ferrari repair shops in melbourne and that i should take it elsewhere...

meanwhile for a large part of the time that the car was there it was left out in the rain!!! parked in vertical median strip parking out the front of the shop for teenagers to open their doors on the car and for people to gawk at and poke! Un believable!!! Truly...

Their place looks like a dive and ive been around cars and workshops all my life and let me tell you my own garage is bigger than their workshop. With so little room to manouvre thats why they damaged my car and also the need to park on the street!
If i knew all this beforehand i would have told them to get stuffed, but i was referred to a place called black stallion but didnt know that these clowns were using the good name of BLACK STALLION MOTORS IN RINGWOOD
I am not joking when i turned up and looked at the place i felt physically ill and so did the tow truck driver when he finally picked up the car...and so did the panel shop guy when he went to quote the car

Anyway it gets better the owner then tells me that he has the legal right to take my car to any repair shop that he wishes, and to fix it for whatever price he wants...
Imagine the cheek of damaging someones car- then denying it but saying because im a good guy ill help fix it-" it wont cost more than $500 " and then being presented with a repair bill by a reputable ferrari repair shop and then arguing with me and the repair shop. In fact this guy was such a tight ass that me and the repair shop decided to just offer a deal of $1500 cash and go away. he still tried to bargain us down to $1000. This wouldnt even pay for the undercoat on a ferrari door.!!!

Meanwhile he wouldnt release my car untill i paid him an outstanding bill on the car...
In the end i couldnt stand for my pride and joy to be in the hands on these clowns and so i just paid him so i could get my car back....

Anyway i warned him not to screw me around because customers talk and all that and guess what he said " I realy dont care.."
Well obviously.. These guys are subaru people not ferrari people! And ive also got a wrx sti coupe and i wouldnt take it to them in a blind fit..

Anyway there has been legal action taken against this person for missapropriation of another companys name and ive done my bit to bag the **** out of these guys so they never put any other ferrari owner what ive been through....

Please guys spread the word!!

 

Thanks for the info. I live in Sydney but good to know if they decide to come to Sydney. We also have these crooks here in Sydney as well. I guess the moral of the story is that the workshop is the first impression. If the workshop does not look right then walk away.

Couldn't many of the observations about the shop have been made prior to selecting them for service...?

 

check the hit counter since it was placed on the interweb and see what relevance it has done for humanity?

if a mistake was made, and that will be debated forever, should it stick forever?

i got ripped off once, but am man enough to let it go, unless someone is stupid enough to bring it up, then i need to set it straight.

my life is not that boring that i dedicate a web page to it.

You should make a complaint to Dept of Consumer Affairs in Victoria. They have a process for just this type of event, will cost you a small amount of time filling out forms but they will investigate and, if nothing else, the owner of the business will get a scare that might make him think twice next time.

I have used the equivalent system a couple of times in relation to bad service from boat repairers in Sydney and received worthwhile compromises from the offending parties.

 

Nothing on here will clean up the industry. As long as anybody can paint a horse on the wall and call himself a Ferrari "specialist", these stories will happen.

btw there is an occasional other side too - Ferrari owning low-lifes have attempted to rip off conscientious repairers.

Interesting story, but it's a bit hard to believe.
First I don't understand how you managed to drop of your car at the wrong "Black Stallion" if you know Tim & Dennis personally.
Also, if the place looked like crap, why leave the car there ? How did you find the "wrong" Black Stallion / are they in the yellow pages / phone book? And, what's the address of the "wrong" Black Stallion, so no one else makes the same mistake ?

Very unlike most car enthusiasts not to take and post a damage close up in the described circumstances.

1st you say you know the people at Black Stallion Motors personally, then later in the post, you say you were refered to them and didn't know there was another "black stallion"... Welll if you know them personally why would you need to be refered to them? Also why wouldn't your personal friends tell you the correct address?

I did a quick google and black stallion motors comes up as http://www.blackstallionmotors.com.au/ while prestige comes up as a subaru place in the trading post, they don't even mention anything Ferrari related

You also say you worked in the industry/workshops, so when you say you saw the condition of the workshop why did still proceed? (atleast re-read your post b4 posting bs, so it makes some sense).

Anyway, sounds like someone at Black Stallion Motors is pissed off someone got a similar name, but there is a right way and wrong way to do things, and posting BS about another company is the wrong way, esp when they not even trying to advertise as a Ferrari specialist.
