Just finished a 591 mile cruise with my local car club from Bemidji Minnesota through Duluth and on up the beautiful Lake Superior shore drive to Grand Marais Minnesota. The 348 ran well and drew quite the attention in the small northern Minnesota towns!

Hard to imagine I just did a years worth of driving for many Ferrari owners. What a shame to own these awesome cars and never use them. Here is a link to a tunnel video. This was shot from a car two vehicles back. See if you can here the 348. ;)

    Gandalf,

You are being informed that you have exceeded the annual mileage allowed under Ferrari Ownership Rules. Please park the car for the next 6 months.

    Thank you.

Now that my 348 is sorted (knock on wood) I plan on doing the same..........putting on miles that is. First major trip will be this weekend with a 400 mile round trip to VA Beach for my nieces' christening. Beyond that nothing is planned yet, but will probably take a couple trips to PA/Upstate NY and I will be disappointed if I put under 3.5 - 4K on the car before winter "hibernation".

I thank everyone who had the car before me for keeping the mileage down....................'cuz I'm gonna rack it up!!!!!!

  8. where abouts in upstate NY are you going??

It sounds just like an F1 car in Monaco's tunnel!

Every couple of years I drive from PHX to Aspen, CO for a track/show weekend. And the drive from PHX to Reno for the VA City Hillclimb through Yosemite is great. There are always some great memories when using Ferrari's...

Oh.........dont underestimate driving distances here mate. ;);)

The nearest big city from here is Townsville and is around 980 km away. NO big deal. The difference is, there is nothing but small fuel stops in between. :p:p

I have do the Mount Isa-Townsville trip at least once or twice a month for 'business', but I have never taken my 348 on the road trip. Mainly because as mentioned, there is nothing in-between. Maybe one mechanical workshop ect....

If you break down or get a flat tyre etc, you can call a tow truck and wait up to 4 hours+, depending on where the truck is coming from. Thats if you can get mobile phone coverage. They charge you per km for the tow truck, unless you have a yearly membership with them. Very expensive if you are not with them.

Either way, it makes me think twice about driving my car there/too far away from home. If there was civilization from here to there, I would drive my 348. I took it there once, on the back of a truck for a week of driving on some wonderful roads. It cost me AU $800 return for the week long fun back in 2005. :D:D

My son and I did 750 miles in one day. On Memorial Day week-end, Sunday my son and I took the morning flight from Burbank to Salt City, arrived as 11am and pick-up the car, grapped some lunch and were on the road by 12:30. He had loaded up the CD changer with A7F and had his Ipod running through the casssette player and he was happy, after he got everything working his first comments were the ride is smoother and less noiser than the Lotus.

The only thing that happened was when we stopped to get some snacks, I pushed one of the buttons on the after market alarm and could not start the car. So I sat in the parking lot, not knowing if it was the car or the alarm, reading manuals after 15-20 minutes figured it out. We arrive back home by 11:30pm. The only two things; was the wind noise at the targa top seam which developed after leaving Vegas, and I could not get the a/c to cool down as much as I wanted, temp was OK a little on the warm side, but still tolerable. So 1 week into the car, I put on 1k miles or 4.5% of the total miles on the odometer. Maybe I should just park it for a year and to keep the average annual mileage in sync.

The son that went is not really into cars or trying to impress his friends, he did not take any pictures of it on his phone etc. He does not care if I drive him to school in it or not, so I haven't.

So upon returing to school, his friend asked; what he did to this week-end?
Son: Fly to Salt Lake and pick up a car.
    Friend: What kind of car?
    Son: Ferrari!
    Friend: You BSing me.
    Son: No.
Friend: So what else do you have parked in the garage?
Son: Lotus Elise JPS and GMC Yukon.
Friend: Now I know you are BSing me.
Son: Fine, you don't believe me, what ever.

Now my other son, took pictures the first time he saw it, and went around showing it to all his friends.

For me, I would just like to keep it on the down low and enjoy the cars. There are very few people I told.

My girlfriend has relatives just outside Syracuse, my parents live in Pennsylvania right on the border of NY halfway between Binghamtom and Corning and I used to live in Westchester County, NY and still have some old "Porsache" friends there. Don't know how many of those Places I will get to, but I'd like to hit them all.

    I was wondering:
US = 3.79 million square miles (9.83 million km²)
    AU = 2,988,888 sq mi (7,741,220 km²)

    I'd say they are close.

LOL!!! That is why I put all the smilies, I was totally kidding. :) Australia is freaking huge, plus I'm from Italy so not really one to talk about having a big country. Although, as far as fchat is concerned, Italy is THE most important country ;)
