A museum dedicated to the life of Swedish racing driver Ronnie Peterson has opened in his home town of Orebro. Almost 30 years after Peterson lost his life following a crash at the 1978 Italian Grand Prix, the permanent exhibition celebrates the life of the driver who captured the hearts of so many fans. The exhibition follows Peterson's life and features much of his original racing kit and cars. Including in the exhibition is a Lotus 72/9 that has been lent to the museum by Classic Team Lotus, run by Colin Chapman's son Clive. Michael Olsson, head of the museum, said about the Lotus: "This is the car that so many people associate with Ronnie's Formula One career, and that is why we were so eager to be able to display this car at the museum." Further details of the museum, which officially opened last weekend, can be found at www.ronniepetersonmuseum.com (photos copyrighted ron paul) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great photos Ron: it's about time Peterson was honored with a museum in my native country: it only took thrirty years! best regards, Marc
+1 he was what i think of when i describe a true racer. he was fearless, heroic, wicked fast all the time. a sad but almost predictable end for ronnie. i am happy to hear he will be honored...they don't turn them out like ronnie, gilles, or senna any more. pcb
At least RP did not put himself in the position of injury as did Gilles. RP was forced off the track.
