The stainless steel jobs are reproduction items with slight variations in tip extension length, opening diameters and tip rim treatment. The period items made by Ansa were finished black and sawn-off vertically whilst some of the stainless items are sawn-off at a light angle. Yes most cars you see now have stainless systems for obvious reasons...

I can only guess, 2 or 3. Statistics sites give amount of cars and individual car types but for Ferrari only the total amount is listed, 1182 per 1-1-2006. There were 7256000 cars total in NL then that means only 0.016% is a Ferrari! (I'm a lucky man I have 3 and 33.3% is a Ferrari!)

There are pictures of 288s w/ body color front bumper? Is it possible that was factory original? Also on DOT/EPA conversions, do the bumpers stick out further than non federalized cars?

The USA federalized cars generally got away with using the original front bumper except in a few instances where Ive seen a more substantial 308 bumper used...

Thank you for this additional photo... It would be interesting to know what kind of engine was installed in this car.
Here is another photo (AutoSprint magazine) of such a prototipo, tested at Fiorano.
In Michael Dregni's book "Inside Ferrari" we can see some photos with such prototypes in Ferrari's backyard.

...And? Personally, I don't like the F50. Too big, too "extravagant", like the Diablo... I prefer the "small" Italian cars.

It looks mean just sitting there. I bet back in its day, it was scarey.

It definitely looks like a successor to the F40, but I have to admit that from the 90s onwards, Supercars are indeed rather big & flamboyant. By comparison the GTO is subtle, sublime & seminal.
