Hi! My 430 Spider is running old with the Bridgestone Potenza's, which are regular street tyre. I would like to have suggestions as my new tyre, which should work best in track & dry weather. At the moment I am considering Pirelli PZero Corsa ( not system), 235 front & 295 rear. If You have track experience, please let me know if these tyres are the best for my car and if the 295 brings more stability to the rear. Other option could be Michelin Pilot Sport Cup. Please, no comments on rain grip, I am only interested in grip in sunny track day!!
Hi, You might want to have a look at Toyo R888's - They're apparently substantially faster than the RA1's. As for Michelin, I swore I'd never darken my rims with their tires after the '04 USA GP. Cheers, Ian
Go with the Pirelli Corsas, for what your are looking for you really can't go wrong. They stick like glue but they wear like an erasers. I have two sets of wheels, one set with the stock Bridgestones for any out of town trips I may be considering (I will replace them with a set of Goodyear EMT Runflats) and another set of Challenge wheels with the Corsas. If you're new to the track, I wouldn't do an R compound tire; and its kind of a waste of money for street use. That said, you have to pick a tire w/ the right front to rear outer diameter ratio. toyo R888 and hoosier R6 are the closest of all the R tires. Michelin sport cups will not work w/ your abs and traction control as they are 1:1 OD F/R.
Thank's for rhe advice. I do track a lot, also drive local series with other cars. Can You explain little bit more what You mean by that Michelin are not working with ABS/CST? What You think of Corsa's, aren't they supplied with Scuderia?
On the 360, the rear tire I think is 1" taller than the front, and the computer is calibrated to recognize that in operating ASR/ABS. If you change that ratio too much, it will throw the computer off. Yoko slicks used on the challenge car have that exact split, but are expensive and don't last long. Hoosier and Toyo have about .7" split, and the computer seems to accept that. The Michelins are both 25.1" tall, and have no split, so I wouldn't use them. The corsa system I don't know much about; I always thought they were a semi R compound. The Toyo are probably the fastest tire you can run, and still be able to use in the rain. I don't know what the split is on the 430, so check that before you do anything. Glad I could help.
A brand new set of PZero Corsa look this way after one track day. According to a tuner, the tires should have been heat cycled first to avoid excessive wear: heat them up by driving some twisties and let them cool off overnight. +1 I *dream* of getting 3-4 track days out of a set of S02A's! [Two at most in my experience] In fact, this is the reason I'm going to give the R888's a try.... I'm sure they won't last longer, but hopefully I'll get two (faster days out of 'em..... Or, at least, reduce the damn tire squeal.... Cheers, Ian

This is for my 360 - The rears are OEM size (275/40-18) and the fronts are *slightly* wider and lower - 225/40 versus 215/45 for the OEM. Cheers, Ian
Hoosier at tirerack.com . Get them cycled and the R6 compound for a good time. Take it easy with them at first.
Nice to see those scrubbed in tyres VM3. If you don't do this to your tyres on a track day, you're not trying hard enough!
