Show people where the money would go and keep it within reason it may have a chance. I assume the funds would have to go to fund R&D on alternative sources, or perhaps subsidies for solar/wind etc to make them more competitive.

If the money could be spent on things like welfare, bridges to nowhere, or tax breaks for corporations, it would have no chance.

Change is painful. If we really want to be able to give the Middle East the kiss-off both in terms of reliance on oil and political influence because of it, we need to reduce our reliance on them for an energy source. While this may not work it certainly will spark debate that could bring about better options.

At least someone’s making a proposal.

Would a tax on carbon have a chance of actually being paid?

The problem is, with our government, some money will always be going to lobbyists and their own pockets.

The whole GW(global warming) thing is a scheme who's hidden agenda is to tax you more. A carbon tax just falls in line with the scheme.

There is another thread here on Cremation. I have an obvious idea for yet another Carbon (Cabron) tax that may have been missed by our government planners.
